VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE WEEKEND THREAD | 90.1M OW! Biggest pandemic opening!

Recommended Posts

Haven’t read almost any of this thread, but pretty obvious that venom in Russia is the most impressive single territory opening this weekend. Followed by I guess China, then bond uk, then you start needing to grade for covid. V2 DOM is covid impressive but obviously not very normalcy impressive.

I think Russia box office has been doing very well, they constantly appear as overseas top grosser for a lot of movie out there even when the country are still at peak of Covid

Venom was clearly alot more popular than people thought, its nice to see audiences throw shade at Rotten Tomatoes at times.

Maybe WB should've stayed the course and not rebooted Suicide Squad. Everything about it was a hit with audiences from it's costumes to it soundtrack

I will never understand a studio choosing to please the critics instead of the audience when there's a clash between their opinions on a franchise. I'm glad Venom 2 is yet another box office performance confirming that's stupid.

I just don't get how a $2.7m opening in a population of 144m is more impressive than $6.6m in a population with half that. V2's opening day in Russia is about 33% of the current years OW record holder, whilst Bonds opening Thursday is around 85%. What am I missing here?

ATP it looks like. 205M rubles/655K tickets = 313 rubles/ticket. According to Google, that’s $4.30 per ticket.

I'm not saying it'll be a big breakout or anything, but weird to see Last Duel tracking drop when you can't watch a football game without getting an ad every commercial. It is def marketing itself like a big movie.
