I have not read the books, but was not impressed by the trailer I saw before "Dune". It came off like a mishmash of every heroic fantasy cliche/meme there is. That might excite some people, but not me.

Apparently this is the first minute of the series? Eh...was hoping the opening scene would be something a bit more eye-catching. This feels...idk, lacking energy a bit? Just not a huge hook to start the show.

Already find myself hoping "maybe they'll do it better next time," which is... not a great sign 😂

Yeah, there are some other rumored (nearly confirmed) changes which are really concerning to me, will see if it looks better on screen.

There are certain things from the books that I absolutely have no issues with them changing because they just won't fly in 2020s visual media.

 

 

But changing the nature of the Dragon reincarnation, unless it's a massive misdirect, really betrays the gender politics themes of the novels. Much of what Jordan did was to highlight the autocratical tyranny of patriarchal systems by flipping them on their head.

 

Of course there's some super cringe male power fantasy as well that creeps in, but the rumors I've seen a little of don't deal with changing that stuff

Premiere is today so should be getting a lot of "best show ever" reactions shortly 

 

There are also a lot of fan screenings taking place tonight, will probably look to those for an early view on fan reaction.

And it seems like the first two episodes move at warp speed. That 8 episode season having an effect

I want this to be good just for Rosamund Pike's sake. Gone Girl should've resulted in receiving better offers 7 years later than commercials for Goldman Sachs damnit!
