Weekend Thread (10/22-24) | Dune 41M OW. French Dispatch 1.35M. Timothee can't be stopped!

Brutal that Disney has now put out a pair of 20th Century titles that will open well below $10M on back-to-back weekends, but not a surprise. Ron's Gone Wrong was clearly one of the last Fox titles given the green light before the sale.

Yep, two bombs from Disney/Fox back to back. Two very different films, both 80%+ on Rotten Tomatoes and both without an at-home option too.

Free Guy released on D+ in India. Did it in US as well or HBO Max? Ron could do well on D+ if former.

Both will be going to HBO Max first.

Guess all eyes will be on how Encanto and Sing 2 do now since they'll be the first major animated titles of the pandemic era to open as pure theatrical releases, especially when the former will be on D+ with no extra charge a month later.

Encanto will have a heavy adult without kid audience, so it should have the highest animated opening of the year...which still wouldn't actually be a "good" number...
