Third Annual BOT Secret Santa - Sign up by November 30 to participate

Hi everyone, 

 

Getting this thread up early so that everyone can sign up and plan for international delivery seeing how mail delivery speeds worldwide have been badly affected by Covid-related supply chain issues.

 

We have conducted Secret Santa successfully for 2 years now, and we will be doing it again this year.

 

November 30 will be last day to signup and names will be drawn on December 1

But I would like to know how long (let's say not all works well) a (maybe) shipping to America or Asia would take approximately? 

And even more important: What do I send? I'm really new to this. Just a surprise present? Or should I ask the member? And how much do members spend (I wouldn't be a cheapskate, I just don't know)?

@grim22 links us all to a site that does Secret Santa — we can list stuff we want or not and have it be a total surprise. I think the limit is US$25-30? Let’s be honest, international shipping time can be a total mystery and probably particularly this year, so I know there will probably be gifts that end up being late winter surprises instead of Christmas, but they do get to their locations. @Eric Atreides has a list of people’s shipping addresses and gives the address in question to whoever draws that person in the randomizer.

Last year I had @chasmmi, And I ordered directly from G-market. And I was able to get the gift there within like a week. And then I think one of them got back ordered and arrived after the holiday.

Quick note, I have now discovered that any package over $150 is subject to customs tax.

Thank you so much for running this and including me as a possible participant...but I also have to pass.  Life is gonna be nuts in the next few weeks, and I don't want to take on any added stress for my health, even if it's the really good kind:)...
