Second weekend and 2nd Monday were pretty close to Anabelle: Creation. I think it's a good comp to see if it will get to 100M.

Different time of the year, different level of competition.   Anabelle's 3rd and 4th w/e had no new openers against it then was hit by It in it's 5th w/e.    Dune will be losing IMAX and PLFs to Eternals in it's 3rd w/e

Yeah I know. I wanted to say that it's a good comparison to see the possibility of reaching 100M, since Anabelle barely get there (102M). If/when it falls under the curve, there's no chance.

Looks interesting comparison so far and Dune can fall under the curve for a moment after next weekend or two and still end up same numbers. Sure, IMAX & Eternals will deliver a big blow and probably biggest single weekend drop in its run next weekend.

Here's also GvK added to the mix with currently at same cume:

https://www.the-numbers.com/movies/custom-comparisons-extended/Annabelle-Creation/Dune-(2020)/Godzilla-vs-Kong-(2020)#tab=day_by_day_comparison

However, Dune has a good chance to end up the rest of the run with much smaller drops and if it can stabilize/plateau its drops after the Eternals weekend, it has a good shot to end up over 100. However, so far HBO Max & piracy has seem to been too much for Dune's excellent WOM so it might be couple weeks more than we know for sure.

As a big Halloween fan, the only thing I really hoped for out of Halloween Kills was that it would make enough to ensure Ends still happened.

while it took a hefty drop from ‘18, I’m still fairly confident it happens

Shouldn't it be a sure thing, or am I missing something?

Dom close to $100m and OS 60?70? at least $150m WW + Peacock with $20m budget, and rentals on top of it.

Ends was never a question. It's 100% happening. But OS for HK is going to end up around 40-45 million $. That worries me more than the US drop, which, especially these days, is ok. 50+% overseas drop (and mind you - it was theatrical only elsewhere) shows the drop in interest for "Halloween" franchise, since the 2018 film made 96.1 outside the US.

I think "Ends" will make more money in the US, but I'm not expecting big improvement outside the States.

Halloween has never been a huge franchise outside of the US. Only the 2018 Halloween did 100M overseas. The previous 3 did 30m total gross overseas. I am sure they are happy with how its done.

Venom inching closer to 200m...gonna be so close without the fudge.

I’ve seen this a few times. It’s at $191m after a $550k Monday…. Of course it’ll pass $200m. Why are people questioning this? it made nearly $6m last weekend, you don’t think it can make another $9m without a “fudge”?

Yes I wouldn’t worry, nearly 6x it’s budget in 3 weeks.

Basically because I'm expecting a hefty drop this weekend with Eternals. If it drops like high 50s, 200m doesn't become a guarantee at that point.

It will tank 60%+ this weekend, that is why.

Morbius will save it. That killer reference at the end of the new trailer is the greatest thing ever. The Internet is BUZZING about it.
