Not bad for Eternals. I wonder if Sat increases are normal (not sure how the holiday on Thursday impacts weekend business), but if it is, we're looking at around a 62% drop. Better than I expected given my perception of WOM.

 

The sky-is-falling "Eternals failure" crowd can shout a little less loudly on BOT this weekend, though that might be asking a little too much ...

I suspect some people took Friday off as well so Saturday increases might not be quite as big

For those who have Veteran’s Day off, taking Friday would make it a 4 day weekend. Half my coworkers were out yesterday. I’m sure impact overall will be minimal though

Because some firms allow it. Friday was one of the 5 days people in my firm could take an additional off day. We have to choose only 2 of the 5 days. I took yesterday off.

62-63% drop. Still a quite a drop but it could have been worse.

Sunday is gonna drop off bigger than usual 38%-45% for all movies due to v day.

Here's the 2010 Thu Veterans Day comparisons from the weekdays threat.

 

Friday bumps for newcomers (Clifford) 100%?, 2nd weekends (Eternals) 2-64%, oldies (the rest) 10-56%.

Eternals' 28% seems on bar (don't know the background for Due Date) and with these comparisons Dune, NTTD & Venom should be expecting 30-40% unless following the anomaly here that got 56% bump.

7.8M FRI is bad for even a normal 2nd FRI, here its coming off a semi-holiday. DOM is doomed to be around 160M closing.

 

Better day in many European markets though.

Eternals number doesn't seem all that good to me. Dune's seems lackluster, but I need to go back and look at what last Friday's was in order to really compare.

 

Edit: Dune's Friday hold is better than I was remembering. Ignore me. Still think Eternals' number is weak.

"...the second weekend of Disney/Marvel’s Eternals didn’t implode, now on track for a -62% weekend, which is on the high end of where we were expecting it with $27.4M. The pic made $7.8M yesterday, -75%... 

 

Meanwhile, Paramount/eOne’s Clifford the Big Red Dog, looks to clear $20M in five days, which bests the $15M-$17M the studio was eyeing, and that’s with the movie on Paramount+. The 3-day on the Walt Becker directed kids film is $14.5M after a $4.2M Friday...

 

Meanwhile, Focus Features’ black and white Kenneth Branagh movie Belfast is putting up solid numbers in arthouses with $1.6M at 580 theaters... 

 

Even Disney’s Ron’s Gone Wrong, which was a clunker in its opening weekend with $7.3M, is seeing solid holds: after a 4.6% decline last weekend in weekend 3, the movie has only eased -40% in weekend 4 with $2.1M, taking its total to $20.6M; and that’s a niche family movie..."

"Disney’s original animation movie Encanto is currently expected to do $37M-$40M in five, but will likely leg out. But just because it’s lesser IP, is no reason to go collapse the window."
