Favorite Fearless Legion
Yeah, even if moonfall jackass uncharted Nile all jumped ship it’s not like exhibition would be losing that much
filmlover
Just looked at the list of IMAX releases and realized that Batman would've had the format to itself for six full weeks before this move so at least this clears up that hole in their schedule. Inceptionzq
I don’t see why Scream wouldn’t win it’s OW from the data so far. I’m gonna start tracking it tomorrow
TwoMisfits
Scream is already getting double screened for presales at my locals (with new anime from Japan opening the next 2 weeks b/c there needs to be something)... As long as there's not a blizzard or some crazy NY/CA full theater closures, Scream is going $25M+ on its OW, no matter how good or bad it is...if it's good, it will go higher, b/c there will be a desire for a cold weather activity for high school and college kids to hang out at (on top of all the subscribers to the big 3 buying tickets on the principle of getting their money's worth)... All these comps are obviously pretty high, even the Halloween one, but the acceleration is still there and I think 20M+ is a strong possibility. 4
EmpireCity
2 hours ago, Eric Smith said: That seems counter-intuitive. Wouldn't you want this film closer to NWH so it's easier to ride off the coattails of Spider-Mania? I personally don't think so, at least not that close to it as it will have a "too soon" vibe for it. Who knows though, theaters need to just hang on a little while longer and good things are coming. March / April / May are stacking up nicely.
Favorite Fearless Legion
I feel like trying to coast off NWH good vibes is almost all that Morbius had going for it, but I guess we'll see. Just need the right half minute post credits to get over 100M.
filmlover
February actually doesn't seem that awful in its current state (Moonfall, Death on the Nile, and Uncharted are all locked in for IMAX/PLF screens while Scream is now the only January release getting large screen format play of any kind) but the lack of any surefire bets stings a bit on top of the fact that January is now officially an almost complete dead zone due to a near total lack of new movies period and holiday holdovers that, with the exceptions of Spider-Man and Sing, are playing to mostly empty auditoriums. People are salivating for more Spidey content though - it's not like this is an Endagme "ok, now it's time to take a breather" kind of situation. The end of NWH threw open the door to a million more possibilities that people want to see
