Favorite Fearless Legion
The scream data looks solid so far. The oddly long PS run complicates forecasting but the pace doesn’t seem to be suffering too much at this stage.

Ronin46
Variety Spidey / 25-27 Sing 2 / 10-12 355 / 5-7 Over the weekend, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is expected to add another $25 million to $27 million to its domestic tally. In other words, “The 355” may still face a bleak fate. The movie, starring Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Penélope Cruz, Diane Kruger and Fan Bingbing, is projected to make a paltry $5 million to $7 million from 3,000 North American theaters. With two days until “The 355” is gearing to hit the big screen, the studio has kept reviews under embargo, which usually isn’t a strong endorsement. The movie will be available on the streaming service Peacock 45 days after its theatrical release, which could help mitigate potential box office losses. Should estimates hold, “The 355” will land behind another Universal film, the Illumination animated musical comedy “Sing 2,” on box office charts. The jukebox sequel, led by the voice cast of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson and other big names, looks to add $10 million to $12 million in its third weekend in theaters. 2

S2 and NWH should both be higher and 355 should be lower. Right now I'm going with... NWH = $31M S2 = $13.5M 355 = $4M

However many new Regal and AMC subscribers who can't bear to "lose money" on their news scripts or who just need to use them to their max the 1st month there now are... But yes, it's not gonna do well this weekend b/c most of those subscribers would probably still choose 2nd, 3rd, and 4th viewings of Spidey over this movie... I haven't seen any commercials or marketing for it, apart from that Tweet referenced in the Sing 2 thread. Honestly, On Demand, regardless of how early it comes, doesn't really impact the holds as much as you might think. I looked at it a couple months ago, and there's nothing that abnormal for most films. And even the heavier drops can be explained by reception/WOM (F9, Respect), or heavy competition (Free Guy's first three weekends after PVOD were when Venom/Bond/Kills dropped). Maybe Sing 2 is an outlier, but this isn't an Encanto case, since they're not giving the movie away for free. filmlover
The Croods 2 didn't seem to be at all impacted by becoming available to watch at home in its fourth weekend so I doubt Sing 2 will either, especially when it's the only children's title in town for the next two months. Streaming doesn't seem top severe of an effect when a paywall of sorts is involved.
