Now that the submission deadline has passed, should we update the release schedule for Y9?

We actually extended the submission deadline to June 27th. @Alpha will probably update the submission thread’s schedule sometime soon.

Available Y9 Dates

With the July 18th deadline about four weeks away, I have decided to make a list of available dates on the schedule. Feel free to use this if you're struggling with when you should release a film. These dates aren't your only options, not by any means, but posting films here would round out the schedule and help the game move forward. Also, there can definitely be multiple films on a specific date, and the game could especially use multiple films on major dates such as Holidays. And just because a film is listed doesn't mean it'll be posted, since films get pushed into later game years all the time.

If you see a film of yours listed here and you know, "well that film's not happening this year," you can confirm that and I'll adjust this list. This is a living post that I plan to update as we get closer to the July 18th deadline.

Spoiler

Dates That Could Use Another Film:

May 16th (could use a film other than my small documentary)

Based on this chart, all that's needed to fill out the rest of the Y9 schedule is an amount that's less than ten films. This means the end's in sight! Feel free to post a film of yours anywhere you want, and remember to have fun. Yes, CAYOM is first and foremost a place to have fun and imagine cool feature films. Everybody wants to post the next big blockbuster or the critics darling that sweeps the Oscars, wins Best Picture, etc.; but you know what gives you no chance at a billion worldwide and no chance at Oscar nods? Not posting anything at all. So keep at it, don't give up, and let's make Y9 one for the history books!

- December 12th (Hilda and the Black Forest is listed)

- December 25th (Millennium is listed; also, I'll also post Among Us here)

* = a limited release is expanding wide on these dates, but they could still use a film

** = July 4th has a documentary releasing but could still use a narrative feature film or two

Dates That Could Use Another Film:

- May 23rd (Blockbuster is listed but might not happen; you would be counterprogramming a film against Grand Theft Auto)

Based on this chart, all that's needed to fill out the rest of the Y9 schedule is an amount that's between thirty and thirty-five films. This means that the end is in sight! Feel free to post a film of yours anywhere you want, and remember to have fun. Yes, CAYOM is first and foremost a place to have fun and imagine cool feature films. Everybody wants to post the next big CAYOM blockbuster or the critics darling that sweeps the Oscars, wins Best Picture, etc.; but you know what gives you no chance at a billion worldwide and no chance at Oscar nods? I'm hoping to put my second Workshop movie for this year, Dinosaucers, sometime in August, around the same time the studio released Frankenstein Jr. last year.

I suggest August 1st. Attack on Titan will get a hard R rating so they’ll coexist fine and you won’t be next to any other animated movies.

Temporary Updated Y9 Schedule

So this updated schedule is meant as a way to keep track of new posts on the submission thread for the time being; the schedule on the other thread may be updated in the future, but this schedule will tide over players eager for an updated top-down look at how the year's shaping up so far. This is a living post that I plan to update as more films get submitted in the lead-up to the June 27th deadline. Whenever films are posted in the submission thread, I'll add them here, and if you have any other requests about the schedule, you can tag me in this discussion thread and I'll make changes; my goal is to do either of those tasks within twenty-four hours of the film getting posted or the request being made. 😎

After some conversation, players have decided to extend the deadline to July 11th. This gives everyone a month from now to post films, granting a little bit more time to everyone. This will likely be the deadline’s final extension!

@SLAM! Some changes in the schedule: Whinge & Cringe is now scheduled for February 14th, the 4-day President's Day Weekend; while Death is Not My Friend now opens on February 28th.

Also, some corrections:

- Death is Not My Friend's theater count is 2589; your post doesn't link to the movie; and you have a typo on its budget (listed as $425m budget, rather than $25 million);

- The Boy Who Hated Books does not have a listed budget (it's $42 million);

- Warmth's theater count is 500 on its second expansion, and 2978 on its fifth and final one.

Matilda and the Night Children will come sometime tonight

Sleepy Hollow and Joyride I want out by Saturday.

A handful of filler sequels and things from my disposable will be rushed to make the deadline: Fire and Ice, my VFX horror movie Crunch Time, Frog and Toad if Thanksgiving animation is needed, Off Road 2, and/or Romance Road 2.

Matilda I’ll drop during the weekend. The thing is good to go, grammar edited but I want to mediate on it a bit.

Hollow I’m having a draft done by Friday as progress as going good but Joyride really depends on how much I get done Sunday.

Working on a few smaller fillers to hold in some spots today.

Priority wise for filler films that could drop Monday night:

Off-Road 2

Crunch Time

HOOOOOPs

Romance Road 2

Frog and Toad

Fire and Ice

The mental health episode that sent to the hospital at the beginning of March really set me back, still recovering from it, honestly.  Reviews will still come from me and I'm working on a plan to get my self in a better place creatively and mentally.  Reviews will come from me. I'm planning big for y10
