As I expected $7.3m estimate for Hansel and Gretel was way too low. Should be around $8.4m

Django Unchained still around $5.4m.

Life of Pi actually increased on Sunday. Should do a bit better early estimates.

I hope Pi can reach $29m, such a number could put in the top 10 2013.

So we can finally have a Russian Top 20 2012.

Who won 2012 in Russia?

1-Ice Age 4 : $50.1m

2-Madagascar 3 : 49.3m

3-The Avengers : 43.7m

4-The Hobbit : 42.9m

5-Twilight BD2 : 42.8m

6-MIB3 : 36.5m

7-John Carter : 33.6m

8-Three Warriors on Far Shores (RUS) : 29m

9-Skyfall : 25.2m

10-Wrath of the Titans : 22.3m

11-Battleship : 22m

12-The Amazing Spiderman : 21.9m

13-Prometheus : 21.3m

14-The Expendables 2 : 17.9m

15-Journey 2 : 17.6m

16-TDKR : 17.5m

17-Cloud Atlas : 17m

18-Ted : 16.9m

19-Resident Evil 5 : 16.8m

20-Brave : 16.1m

What do you think about it?

Only 1 Russian movie in the top 20, Hollywood is extremely dominant! And animated movies are the kings, so the performance of Epic / Monsters University could be fascinating.

2012 interesting facts :

-John Carter in the top 10, given the global flop it's kind of impressive!

-The Hobbit isn't in the top 3

-The Avengers is in the top 3, TASM and TDKR really passed their previous movies...Now SH movies are bankable in Russia, new era!

-The success of Ted and Cloud Atlas.

-The impressing rising of Twilight BD2 compared to BD1, in Russia it really was an ascending franchise.

TH is just 0.8 million behind TA. Is there no chance of reaching that?

The real success in each country is marked by the local currency, but I understand your ranking.

Numbers in dollars are essential to compare at a global scale.

Of course, and I agree that, globally, it is the less difficult way to compare. But locally, as Juni has posted, TA is fifth of the year, not third. This happens everywhere. The fluctuation of exchanges causes wrong comparisons. We must use $ for OS and WW comparisons for a global sight, but not for local comparisons or rankings. Russian people pay and care about ruble, not about dollar.
