Rudolf
How many Americans would watch a move about Alexander II. who freed the slaves 1861? 4 years later he US followed. Since 1920 even women can vote in the US. Russia was also 3 years ahead in that.

juni78ukr
I mean if anyone wants to write about russian movies and box office that's fine by me. Even great. But making a garbage heap from anything you can salvage on the web that's really dumb. Edited January 24, 2013 by juni78ukr
juni78ukr
Patriotic war movies in Russia dont go well with modern audience. And they cant bring older people either.

juni78ukr
In theaters already reported Lincoln is doing very poor. Selling less tickets than Life of Pi on week 4.On the contrary Gangster Squad looks much stronger.

Fullbuster
Lincoln couldn't be a success there, but I'm quite curious about Gangster Squad, it could surprise a bit.
riczhang
No surprise. Don't think anyone expected Lincoln to do anything but Flop OS. No one OS really wants to see a film about an American President that's also extremely talky. Just not what OS would like outside of maybe the UK, Oz, and other English speaking countries. Rudolf
Lincoln is also a very boring character (honest Abe), not a womanizer (Clinton, Kennedy) or a crook (Nixon).

juni78ukr
Lincoln wouldnt make even 50,000 on Thursday. Rust and Bone and Great Expectations are doing even worse. Gangster Squad should gross 350-400k on Thursday. Not great but at least acceptable. Hansel and Gretel should stay in the lead and the drop is rather mild.
