Russia behind South Korea?????

UK ahead of France??? So the UK is the biggest European market now!

Japan is still impressive :)

Russia will pass South Korea and Germany soon enough, it's unavoidable and could become the main European market in 10 years.

Local Korean films are huge, right now in theatres there is a film with over $80M and another with almost $50M.

Compare that with Russia...

The size of a market has nothing to do with local movies.

South Korea = 50 million inhabitants, Russia = 142 million, so I'm impressed to SK ahead.

But Russia will be ahead soon, this year or next year I think, and it will pass Germany too.

South Korea has the more successful local movies.

Asterix alone could have won for France.

I don't understand what you mean about Astérix...

By the way it's quite shocking about Germany : it's more populated than France/UK but it's clearly behind them at the BO.

If Asterix would have been successful, France could still be No 1 in Europe. It was a major disappointment in 2012.

in 1984 Germany had twice as many admissions as the UK.

In 1958 Germany had twice as many admissions as Fance.

.

It is a developement. Different countries are at different phases in their respective history.

I remember reading an American journal where they poked fun at Aeroflot, the Russian airline, only allowing smoking after 4 hours flight. Now you can't smoke on any American airline flight. Things change.

Astérix 4 was designed for the failure given the harsh fall in admissions for Astérix 3 compared to Astérix 2.

The UK got a trump card last year : Skyfall.
