No kidding.

The government of the Ukraine is going to go down fighting, with an insurgency against the Russsian occupation to follow.

And as for Russia, welcome to being aa Pariah.

I understand my colleagues in the West, understanding how events are presented in the Western media, but everything that happened yesterday could have been avoided (without justifying the actions of Russia, they are quite difficult to justify). If the political elites of Ukraine had accumulated at least a little intelligence and foresight over these 8 years...

P.S. I will clarify that I am from the east of Ukraine, so I have such a position.

Moderation: I know some users have already said this but lets keep politics and the invasion out of the thread please. Effects of the invasion on cinemas and box office in Russia can be discussed here. If you guys want a particular thread to talk about this topic then feel free to make a new thread in the Real World section. I am already seeing some very infuriating and baffling post in this thread placing some blame on Ukraine and I don't want to go ballistic on some users because of that. Thank you

With the ruble down 30% before the markets even open, and long lines at ATM in Russia becuase people are withdrawing their money out of fear it will become unavailable as the banking sanctions set in.

Russian Box Office is going to a massive hit.

And Western Studios coming under pressure., alot of it from big names in entertainment..to  freeze further releases in Russia until RUssia Withdraws from the Ukraine ( don't hold your breath).

To be true, we are likely to see another Turkey type exchange rate here 🥲

Going to be alot worse then that, ,inflation is going to skyrocket.

Basically, in response to Russia invasion of the Ukraine, the West had declared economic war on PUtin and Russia.

Hey, you stage a Hitler type invasion of a neighboring country, bad things are going to happen.

I know it's affecting but there is an update that

Putin will chair an emergency meeting with his cabinet and the central bank later today after sanctions “significantly changed Russia’s economic reality,” the Kremlin says.

“These are heavy sanctions, they're problematic, but Russia has the potential to compensate the damage.”

{{Indirectly, I think it doesn't affect them at all. So don't think that NWH gross at USD at present. I hope that other films also get a way to release in Russia.}}

Russian economy is reeling today from the sanctions.

And i support a freeze on major studios films in Russia. Total isolation of Russia until they withdraw from Ukraine.

MODERATION:

With the news of WB and Disney pulling their international releases in Russia, we are temporarily going to lock this thread.  We don't want this to turn into a breeding ground for off-topic heated discussions.  The Mods will post box office updates as they come in.  Until then, you can visit the Politics Sub Forum if you wish to talk about global politics.
