Eric the Creator
https://deadline.com/2022/03/x-prequel-a24-ti-west-sxsw-premiere-1234977817/ Quote A24 and filmmaker Ti West have a prequel ready for X, the New Zealand-shot film that made its world premiere at South by Southwest last night. A24 will be releasing X nationwide this Friday. Exclusive prequel footage will be available only in theaters. The prequel, shot in secret on location in New Zealand, is currently in post-production. X is a slasher movie that takes place on a porn film shoot in 1979in rural Texas and when the film’s reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast finds themselves fighting for their lives in what looks like a mix between Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, two slasher staples of the period. Pic stars Mia Goth and got a raucous crowd reaction at SXSW. The prequel is written and directed by Ti West with Mia Goth reprising her X role. Krissykins
Trailer looks great, glad it’s going theatrical too. Hoping for the same in the UK.
p a p i
Mia Goth needs some kind of recognition somehow. What a ferocious actress.

Flopped
Indiewire didn't like it but they're in the minority from what I saw. C+ from them Didn't realize this was coming out so soon...does the average person know it exists?
DAJK
Going to open lower than X imo, which sucks because it looks great, and X itself was pretty great.

DAJK
Saw this with a pretty full theatre last night. Reception seemed pretty mixed. Mia Goth was fantastic (seriously, if there is any justice she will be in the running for a Best Actress nom) but other than her and the visual aesthetic of the film, I just found it to be okay. X was much more fun, I just can’t picture myself ever wanting to watch this again.
