In a lot of those countries The movie perfectly clicked with the 99 per-center and spoke to them about class inequalities on a level never heard of for a tentpole. Whereas in the US the discussion was mostly about White rage, Identity politics and so forth. Even some people that like it had to put some type of disclaimer (yeah Joaquin Phoenix was the only good thing) as if they were ashamed to just like it. Other countries also have sensible gun control policies. The US had been witnessing a string of shoot outs from frustrated (mostly) white men pre-pandemic, one of which actually happened at a theatrical showing of a previous Bat film. Also, it's differences in taste lol. Parasite did everything Joker did in a more skillful and elegant manner and both came out within weeks of each other. Joker wasn't a "must see" movie as all that. Juby
$1.3m for The Batman on Thursday, $338.2m after 4 weeks in release. It needs really great hold this weekend to cross $350m on Sunday. If it won't, even $380m might be dead.
