How come Deadline says in like for likes JW did $47.3M and FK $59.8M including previews but whenever I calculate it in like for likes using info from Box Office mojo and the-numbers the total comes out a lot higher?

Older comps are messed up because of ER adjustments in all those places

Came here after bring puzzled seeing the box office subReddit gloating that this film was apparently underperforming. I'm happy that isn't the case.

The subreddit is made up of a bunch of doltish fucks. When news came out that Dominion was tracking ahead of No Time to Die in China and everyone there was comparing how that's no where close to the previous two installments mocking it while ignoring that China just reopened and is slowly recovering from a pandemic.

It's just a very Ameri-centric circle jerseys. That only joined because of Endgame

My favorite comment from that China thread was the one that said “there’s zero hype or advertising for this movie” which is just, bruh. Have they went outside recently, there’s advertising EVERYWHERE. And they seem to forget Shaun bases a lot of his projections on online hype and he’s predicting a much higher OW than they are.

Yeah this looks like a really good start. It underperformed in Korea though that can be explained by the massive overperformance of local movie The Roundup there while it overperformed in Mexico. The rest of the markets seem very similar to both JW and JW:FK.

Hong Kong underperformed compared to FK but I presume that's because of the reluctance after the release of pandemic restrictions. What's the covid situation in Hong Kong?

Deadline's article. https://deadline.com/2022/06/top-gun-maverick-tom-cruise-500-million-second-weekend-jurassic-world-dominion-doctor-strange-global-international-boxofficeinternational-box-office-1235038582/

The only major competition out there for Cruise’s flying ace this frame was the debut of Universal/Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World Dominion which started to thrash its tail in 15 early offshore markets. Also as we wrote on Saturday, the dino bow for the Colin Trevorrorw-helmed threequel exceeded $50M and is an estimated $55.5M through Sunday. That’s 1% ahead of both 2015’s Jurassic World and 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, when excluding previews.

Latin America ate up the return of the new and legacy cast with JWD breaking records as the franchise’s best opening in Mexico, Argentina, Central America, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay.

Before heading to North America, as well as China and 58 other markets next weekend, Mexico is the lead hub in the debut with an estimated $18.1M — good for Universal’s all-time biggest opening in the market. There was 70% uplift from Friday to Saturday, with a big boost from families, logging Universal’s top Saturday ever. The debut also beat Jurassic World (+42%) and Fallen Kingdom (+44%). Further detail to come.

Great numbers from LA, SK being down probably has as much to do with the covid recovery then with the Local hit.  Looking at DS2 the opening wasn't inline with normal mcu movies, didn't see neary the normal sat jump (ofc it had bad/ mixed wom) still even with WoM taking in to account that where some bad jumps. NWH had no showtimes after 8pm (or 7pm) still ps seemed wearer than you normaly expect for the hype.

At least from follwing the SK boxoffice over the past 5 years it doesn't feel in full force again (so that might also explain the weaker OW a bit).
