Sunday trend looks not that good, beautiful weather keeps people outdoors - still a great opening for IM3!

#1: IM3 - 510k admissions (750k including previews)

#2: SM5 - 130k

#3: Mama - 70k

#4: IGIAY - 60k

#5: Oblivion - 50k

#6: Croods - 40k

Again, Mama with a surprising hold; Oblivion got hit hard by IM3.

well, beautiful weather hit everything including IM3, but when comparing holds, Oblivion got an extra shove down the drain. Compare the holds for "Mama" or IGIAY.

A very good opening for IM3; no good numbers anywhere else - even "Night Train" took a dive. The more surprising it is, again, how well "Mama" is holding - with a 30% drop it's still #3. As was to be expected, Oblivion and GIJoe2 were hit hardest by IM3, and with ST2 opening today, the upcoming  weekend won't be any easier.

With ST2 opening today and IM3 still under full steam, and rainy weather forecasts, next weekend should show an overall improvement - let's see how Tony Stark fares against Kirk&Co; a head-to-head race is entirely possible, but I guess ST will come out #1 in the end. The other noteworthy opener is "Hanni&Nanni3", those films tend to open low but show good legs; depending on weather it might make it to #3 this weekend and should end with a total in the 1.0million range, continuing the strong year for domestic films.

Yep, both very good numbers! This weekend, rainy weather favours movie-going, so family films are doing good business - Croods will likely show a healthy increase after last weeks implosion, and Hanni&Nanni3 seems to open about 25% higher than parts 1 and 2. Overall a really nice weekend at the BO

 

Concerning the STiD-number: It's really excellent; when you consider it's in 3D this time, it'll nearly double ST's opening weekend in US$.

Yep, and weather for next weekend looks rainy, too - so I expect great holds again, STiD and IM3 both can take a shot at 2mil admissions, and Croods at 2.5mil (don't believe that "Epic" will openvery high)!

Oh come on, sequels aren't bad, elitist reaction. Non-sequels still exist and can be very successful...The Croods, Life of Pi, Avatar..and so on proved it.

The estimated 380k for IM3 would be are a drop in the 26 to 27% range.

btw, in Austria, STiD had a weaker start than in Germany and IM3 stays #1 for the weekend (estimates: IM3 42k admissions, STiD 38k)
