So 9 days out Avatar has nearly eclipsed the final presale numbers of BP2 or TGM or has already eclipsed it (batman). This movie is in its own stratosphere together with DS 2. I'm really excited if 300k OD can happen.

I'm surprised though that DS2 manages to keep pace with Avatar so far. Comic book movies aren't that successful usually. It sold "only" 2.2m tickets altogether.

One more horrible wekend … drops were not too harsh but with no big opener, business was extremly bad. Same in Austria …

Next weekend: With "Der Räuber Hotzenplotz", there's one more popular children's book adaption - probably not that big an opening but hopefully it can reach 1mil total or more during the holidays.

Another great progress for Avatar 2. Nearly Level with DS 2 presales, but the trajectory looks like it will overtake it pretty soon.

I cant really predict a number, because data is still too much scattered. Tomorrow i will have all comps with data, so maybe we will get a clearer picture.

 

As of Today Avatar 2 has eclipsed every final Presale Number except for Thor and DS2. Thor will be eclipsed tomorrow and DS2 should be eclipesd at t-1 or t-0.

at least an ok start for the domestic children's book adaption which should do well across the holidays (and got some pretty favourable reviews). Otherwise, still horrible. (some very "good" holds but from a deflated level ...)

those events are pretty expensive ... for example, next week's "The Hours" from the Met is €35,-- per seat. And already 50% sold. Obviously (as in real operas) the real price will be lower since most people interested in these shows have an abo for all 8 events.

Okay from bad to worse. It seems like Avatar 2 has lost steam presale wise. I mean the presales are not bad, but i expected a little bit more. For Comparison presales between T-2 to T-1.

I expected something more like DS2. With this slight downward trend im giving a more pessimistic Prediction of 170k - 220k.

This would still be the best OD of the year, if it does the bare minimum of 170k.

For reasons to this downward trend im guessing flu season. i have many many showings which dropped like 2-5 seats. But this is just a shot in the dark. Presales are nonetheless pretty good, as of right now second best to DS2. Lets wait for the grande finale tomorrow.

I don't think it's flu season, it just seems to be in line with everywhere else in lacking that final PS push. We shall see what happens with walkups but the ending of its PS run is shaping up to be pretty disappointing. Going down on SH comps is just not good.
