IT reached R$51.9m this weekend, becoming the 12th biggest movie of the year. POTC5 (54m) will be passed this week.

However entering the top 10 will be more difficult than expected, it would need 66m to pass Fifty Shades 2 and 67m for GOTG2, given the slowdown of last week that won't be easy at all.

What about Thursday's new releases? Thursday's top 5 :

Blade Runner is first but it was to be expected, we'll have to wait to know the extent of this lead.

Woody Woodpecker is second while Kingsman and IT still have pretty good legs, IT will probably start to weaken from now on, a presence in the top 10 of the year is not a sure thing.

My Little Pony is not there, same thing for Your Name because of a limited release.

Thor 3 will come in 2 weeks, then it's time to remind you the numbers of the previous ones :

Thor : R$28.9m

Thor 2 : R$61.7m

That's defintely an excellent growth, close to the one we got between GOTG and GOTG2. Thor 3 is very likely to beat Thor 2 given the market strongly grew in local currency since 2013 and that Hulk is there. Something close to R$100m could happen.

When the movie is GOOD, they usually don’t free fall. ;)

That's mostly because the competition is lame, BR2049 being sci-fi that is a hated genre in Brazil while My Little Pony is limited to girls between 3-12 yo.

Absolutely not true, Guardians 2 per example, dropped 44% in its second weekend, despite having zero competition, and then dropped a massive 50% in its third weekend, facing a flop Sci-Fi movie that nobody cares about and it’s Rated R. IT is holding well because it has good WOM.
