This is in line with joker's direction of not being a typical CBM.

Yep, that's where my doubts about the movie doing well or not originated.

But hey, even if it's not as big as Avengers or Lion King, and it doesn't need to be, it's still an excellent start for such a movie.

Yeah, Joker is a failure in Brazil Lmao.

Why did this sentence hurt you? And why did you translate it into something completely different?

Can you guys avoid the DC vs Marvel wars and the constant outrage, we usually don't attack movies here so there's no reason to be offended, we're grown-ups.

One of the most frustrating things is that Frozen 2 won't even release in Brazil before January so it won't even be there to boost its opening weekend and not having Brazil right away is a problem these days if you want records...at least for the OS box office, particulalry for animated movies because China is pretty weak with these ones most of the time.

Perhaps the bright side is that exchange rates will improve until January...

I was surprised that Frozen made only R$51.4m and was only the 13th biggest movie of 2014 (the first one was released in January 2014) in Brazil,  but I think  sequel will have a big increase,  around Toy Story 4 (R$124m) maybe even more.

Indeed, I agree. Better ER is possible (but I hoped for that for 4 years so.. 😛 )

And yes, Frozen was surprisingly weak agaisnt the rest of the world, it was at a time when Disney/Pixar animated movies weren't big with Dreamworks being the big boss but things changed so much since then, Frozen 2 should have an impressive jump!

Joker has R$87m (around $21,2m Dollar), and 5.5m adm now,  surpassed Aladdin and  already is the 6th biggest movie of the year.

Just to get an idea of how bad the exchange rate is at the moment, Logan made R$91m Reais and that was $29m dollars (in march 2017), Joker with R$87m Reais is $21m dollars.
