It also has a shot at passing Moana but not a sure thing for now

Mockingjay Raphael
Mother! Opened at #2. JLaw definitely is a draw here, there’s no way an art house movie like this would even reach top 5 without her. 1 1

Fullbuster
I'm a bit sad, somehow these forums seem different....less dynamism, people are less passionate and more cynical, maybe it's only an impression but things seem darker here, not a fan at all...

One of the most impressive runs of year along with Wonder Woman, the fact that a Rated R movie is outgrossing a family movie with 3D and a big brand behind it is something unbelievable.

It's easy to have a significant Box Office when the movie has quality, GOTG2 doesn't have this advantage.

It's simply because sci-fi films do not connect with the brazillian audience like it does with the north-american audience.

GOTG is not seen as a Sci-Fi movie here, it is seen as a SH MOVIE, the most popular genre in the country, if it we’re seen as a true Sci-Fi, you can be sure it wouldn’t have made even half of it’s numbers. And Brazilians audiences doesn’t reject every Sci-Fi movie, just the cerebral ones, TFA/TF3/4 are sci-fi/action movies and they sold more tickets than GOTG2 (and the MCU brand is bigger than the TF/SW brand here). And Avatar was monstrous. Plus, ID:R and Passengers did good numbers here as well. Edited September 24, 2017 by Mockingjay Raphael
alisson23
Why don’t you guys consider GOTG2 a comedy, instead of a Sci-Fi? It will make you feel better, since comedy is even more flop than Sci-Fi here. GotG2 numbers will be a lot more impressive now. Sex and the City 2 did $3.2m and 22 jump street did $2.3m. Gotg2 did $21m. WOW. A huge surprise for the genre.
Fullbuster
This hatred of GOTG2 here, seen as a good movie, deserves a psychological evaluation given how exaggerated it is. It's like the main actor did something to them or a hatred of raccoons 😝
