Dragon Ball Super released at 1st place yesterday, with apparently a good distance from the second place (Bullet Train). 3.6 audiences score.

Reminder that if it does manages to win the weekend, it will be the first anime to do it so since Pokemon 3, 21 years ago.

Dragon Ball is easily the biggest anime franchise in Brazil.

Congrats for Dragon Ball Super on becoming the first anime in 21 years to lead a weekend, congrats for Black Phone and Elvis on passing 1 million tickets, congrats on Thor and Minions 2 on passing 6 millions and for Minions 2 becoming the third best selling movie of the year so far.

Is true that the lack of releases helped Super Hero, it lost saturday and sunday to Minions 2. The opening was higher than Battle of Gods and Ressurrection of F, but lower than Broly and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (It will probably see better legs than Jujutsu though). Overall strong holds for everyone and Elvis did a small increase even late on it's run. My eyes right now are if Bullet Train and Super Pets will also manage to leg out to 1 million tickets...probably not, but would be nice.

Next weekend is a little more crowded, with Nope, Paws of Fury, After Ever Happy, O Debate and Assalto na Paulista.

Any screen/location count to determine wide of the re-release?

Because, in Japan, it will only be released on two locations (Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas &Osaka Station City Cinema) from September 9.

A late update to this, the release will also be small here. It will be limited to Cinemark theaters and just for some of the big cities.

What was Broly opening weekend? The information I have is that it grossed 1.6M opening weekend, but it might be wrong.

After this weekend, the number of movies reaching the mark of 1 million admissions are now 15. For comparison, 2019 had 34 movies reaching the mark, 2020 had 7 and 2021 had 10. 2)- Thor: Love and Thunder - 6.120.000

9)- Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore - 2.555.956

11)- Sing 2 - 1.426.305

12) - Lightyear - 1.270.068

13) - Morbius - 1.268.376

This last thursday Nope released at 1st, followed by After Ever Happy and Dragon Ball. Paws of Fury in 6th, Top Gun is out of the top 10 for the first time.

Reminding once again that animated movies this past month have been getting huge boosts on saturday, don't be shocked if Minions or Paws of Fury crack the top 3 during the weekend.

EDIT: Nope did R$397k the first day, it was also the best opening day for a Jordan Peele movie, 30% above Get Out and 7% above Us.

Until september 4 ingresso.com is selling tickets for any session for the whole country for R$10. Not sure if in the coming days this will impact anything on the BO, but might impact on the admissions.

Told you lol, Minions and Paws got in the top 3. Nope had the best opening for Jordan Peele. Dragon Ball Super had good weekdays and is already above Battle of Gods, Ressurection of F and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (however all 3 of those got their circuits down significantly the third weekend). Outside of that, no other good news. Second worst weekend of the year.

Next two weeks will be interesting, since Independence Day is on september 7th we will see a bunch of movies getting released in 3 different points, on the sptember 1th, on the 7th and on the 8th. For september 1th it will release Where the Crawdads Sing, Three Thousand Years of Longing, Dark Web - Cicada 3301, Predestinado and A Viagem de Pedro.

10 The Black Phone 533.000 -16% 20.100.000 1.100.000

Another weak week (Should stay like this until october), but at least some achievements and strong holds. Nope already beat the total of Get Out and should pass Us soon, Minions 2 passed Thor Love and Thunder's admissions again and Predestinado holded on 2nd place. Funny how despite how shitty the last few weeks were attach rate is really good just because every movie is so close to each other, including those outside the top 10.

Independence Day is on the 7th, mid week holidays are always very welcomed for the box office. On the 7th releases the extended cut of No Way Home and Pinicchio - A True Story, on the 8th releases Men, Rogue One, Ticket to Paradise, Minha Família Perfeita and The Territory.
