What are the expectations in Brazil for the Whitney biopic to be released on the 12th january?  Any kind of hype or promo happening?  Thanks

Whitney was pretty beloved here and I've seen a few shares of promos (there were trailers in both the Avatar 2 and Puss in Boots 2 screenings I went). But artists' biopics usually are very hit and miss.

Yeah. Good weekend. Can you notice?

Compared to last week, we saw a grow of 128%, with Avatar doing more than 1 million admissions this weekend alone and Puss in Boots will pass that mark with today's numbers, becoming the first 2023 to sell 1 million tickets, and that with only 9 days into the year, really didn't took long!

Next weekend, we will have a few batch of releases, with I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Operation Fortune, Jeeper Creepers Reborn, The Fabelmans, Nas Ondas da Fé and Me Chama Que Vou.

Also, so I will post the full 2022 ranking tomorrow so I won't mix with this weekend's ranking.

Avatar seems R200m is locked

What’s you guys prediction for the final?

The reasonable prediction is like Waluigi said, something like 220-230M IMO. But I am going to be bold and say that this could get to 250m, I think is within reach given the insane increase of last weekend, the nature of the movie and how January always leg out amazing.

I don't think is going to do great. It's going to do less than Elvis IMO...

This is higher than my expect,R250m is coming

No, It should be lower than your expectation if you are going for 250... Brazil's Weekdays are Mon, Tue & Wed. If it made 7.4m Mon + Tue, then Weekday should be around 10m which was what NWH made too. I was expecting it to be little higher 12-13m Weekday and not same as NWH.

Dude ,this point you need to know that Avatar is the weekend movie everywhere ,a 3-hour blockbuster doing this result on weekday is normal thing, not everybody don’t have work and no place for school

I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Fabelmans are having an actually decent first day so far. This means little for the weekend, just that I thought they were going to be a hard sell for brazilian audiences but they might surprise a little. On the other hand, if things don't get better the next few days, Nas Ondas da Fé might be the first local bomb of the year.

Avatar 2 made R$4.2M on wednesday, now reaching a total of R$178M and 8.5M admissions, passing DS2. That makes it the highest grossing movie from 2022, first time since 2014 a movie not from Marvel or DC reaches the yearly top.

Yesterday, I Wanna Dance released in 3rd, Operation Fortune in 4th, Fabelmans in 5th and Nas Ondas da Fé in 6th.
