Brazil Box Office Thread

Cinema Week is coming back next week, between 09-14 february, where tickets for any movie is reduced to R$10.

Reminder that on the last cinema week last september made the audience numbers grow almost 300%. So there is a lot to look forward next week! For Avatar this will give one last major push before Ant-Man.

Is Ant-Man going to do well in Brazil?

Too bad EEAAO was not given a bigger re-release. The avilable screenings are selling super well but might not crack the top 10 because of this. BTS will absolutely be no.1 this weekend, selling out really hard. Knock is still disapointing this saturday, it should beat Old at least.

Box office 2-5 february

Movie Box Office (R$)             Change (%) Total (R$)    Admissions    Admissions total (Est)
1 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish 4.980.000 -19.1% 69.900.000 334.000 3.850.000
2 BTS: Yet to Come in Cinemas 4.390.000 --- 6.830.000 --- 181.120
3

Avatar: The Way of the Water

4.090.000 -28.7% 226.600.000 --- 10.620.000
4 M3gan 2.670.000 -32.7% 19.520.000 157.000 1.070.000
5 Knock at the Cabin 1.720.000 --- 1.720.000 80.880 80.880
6

A Man Called Otto

1.160.000 -28.8% 3.640.000 79.000 160.520
7 Plane 790.000 -49% 3.700.000 56.000 189.670
8 The Great Maurice 730.000 --- 730.000 36.590 36.590

10 Project Gemini 360.000 --- 360.000 17.690 17.690

Was honestly not expecting Puss to still remain on top, was truly expecting BTS to take the lead. This weekend M3gan became movie number 3 to sell over 1 million tickets in 2023, Knock at the Cabin opened above Old and The Visit, but bellow Glass and Split.

Next weekend, together with the Cinema Week promotion, it will release Titanic 3D, Till, Tiger's Nest, Desapega!, Pearl, The Offering and Perlimps.

The first day of the Cinema Week made R$3.1M total and saw 280k admissions. This is an upgrade from the first day of the previous Cinema Week, that earned R$2.3M and  saw 212k admissions. Titanic 3D released in 3rd, Desapega in 7th and Pearl in 8th.

Do you have numbers of admissions of Titanic with all the re-release ?

Excluding this one happening right now, Titanic made 17.05M admissions total, the third most watched movie of all time.

Why does insidekino have this number : "17.713.310" and Jp's Box Office this number : "18 392 413" ?

I am pretty sure, I answered to your question last year - with atleast SIX sources there:

In 2000 - Titanic had 16,377,228

In 2012 - Titanic 3D had 676,394

Total - 17,053,622

I found few more SOURCES too:

7. FilmeB numbers see, top 50 - http://www.filmeb.com.br/database2/html/ME01.php

8. Numbers approved by ANCINE (Gov. Site)

I even tried to answer why insideKino may have higher numbers.

And on all these sources who is telling the truth ?

InsideKino - German focused & JP -  France focused are not Box office Data provider, they simple record-keeper like Box office Mojo or Numbers.

I don't get this question - you will not trust FilmeB - which had been providing BO Data in Brazil over foreign source - which simply collect Datas?

It's like someone telling me JP is right and CBO box Office is wrong for France BO Data.

I don't know I saw that there were often errors on local sites (in particular figures not updated) such as on the Mexican box office thread where each week there were different updated figures for A2 from differents sites

Oh, That's because they are weekend numbers (Provincial Data or Estimates). Weekend numbers are never really completely accurate in most Countries - if  you are getting 'em just next day. But, If you look at year-end data or Cumulative data of both Local site & ComScore - they have same numbers.
