Brazil Box Office Thread

Oh, That's because they are weekend numbers (Provincial Data or Estimates). Weekend numbers are never really completely accurate in most Countries - if  you are getting 'em just next day. But, If you look at year-end data or Cumulative data of both Local site & ComScore - they have same numbers.

Adding to this and to not derail the thread; those estimates that come up my Monday usually only have a 92%-94% computed out of the whole coverage. Of course in some countries is faster given they have real time tracking but with smaller and independent chains it takes a long time in many markets yet.

This. It is important to understand that the monday numbers for most countries are estimates, just like how US publish their estimates on sunday. For Brazil the actuals come 7 days later when Ancine publish their weekly report with big breakdowns by region, state, cities and chains. These numbers are as official as official can get. And like you say, further end of year report confirm even more to leave no doubts.

Ok thank you, sites like inside kino or jp's box office should get a little more information to give the real figures rather than giving precise estimates that we want to think are true but which are just estimates that depend on the price of the ticket. If you can get the real numbers I'm sure they can too.

The first 4 days of the Cinema Week earned a total of R$26.9M and 2.4M admissions, the first Cinema Week made R$20.57M and 1.8M admissions on the same period (R$35M total on the whole 7-days). We still have two more days left (One day less than the previous one due to the early release of Ant-Man). The advantage of not having a big new release breakout like Orphan: First Kill is that this time the money was better spread out among the other movies. Avatar 2 is only 50k admissions away from entering the all-time top 10, Knock at the Cabin already passed the totals of Old and The Visit and Pearl should pass the total of X in a few days.

Next weekend it will release Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantunmania and Triangle of Sadness.

At the last minute they decided to extend the Cinema Week one more day, now tomorrow will be part of it with Ant-Man being the only movie not included in the promotion.

I don't know yet however if all of this will happen to the whole country or just some select regions.

EDIT: Checked out some cities and they are showing the regular prices, so I will assume that is regional, so officially it ended today.

First day of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantunmania had 175k in admissions. Previous Marvel movie, Wakanda Forever, had 270k admissions in its wednesday release, Thor Love & Thunder had 346k (however, Wakanda had a late night release while Ant-Man and Thor had a full day). Disapointing considering the strong early pre-sales.

How many admits did Ant-man 2 sell? Will this easily beat that?

It made 708k in the first weekend and 3.25M total. It still on the way on beating the opening, for the total it will probably do it but is not locked, it need legs and WoM is really not looking good right now.

I will go out now and say that this is probably a mistake from Comscore and they actually mean 1.2M dollars, and not reais, because R$1.2M is INCREDIBLE low for a movie that sold 300k+ tickets. It makes no sense at all. However R$6M+ does align with the amount of tickets sold.

Added a little something more to the ranking with the admissions of the weekend alongside the total admissions. Might not do this every week but I thought it would be interesting to add once in a while.

January saw a total of R$140M on box office, an increase of more than 37% from last year, starting 2023 with a right foot.

Puss took the lead from Avatar for the first time, ending Avatar's 6-week long victory. Plane finally had its full release thought it is hard to say if the half-month previews helped or hurt it, Otto had a good start, Tár failed to enter the top 10 while Fabelmans had an increase in tickets per screen, but it still got down due to lesser screenings this weekend. M3gan is getting real close to selling 1 million tickets and it might get there as soon as next weekend if it manages to do a sub 50% drop.

Next weekend we will see the release of Knock at the Cabin, The Banshees of Inisherin, The Amazing Maurice, Project Gemini, Hut, Porto and the re-release of EEAAO.

Hi, is there a link for this weekly chart?  Or a link for what is the total for Brazil for I Wanna Dance With Somebody?  Thanks

Here, first panel is for admissions, second panel for box office. Go back when this page when it gets updated on monday, the movie probably got a final push this past week.
