Brazil Box Office Thread

Recommended Posts

Shazam 2 reached first place on thursday and EEAAO is back to the top 10 at 7th place. I'm still waiting for numbers for the first two days, very weird nothing came up yet.

On the pre-sales, John Wick 4 is doing super well and it is expected to be the next one to pull franchise records.

This weekend had R$ 19.15M at the box office and 911k in admissions. The admissions will be updated later. EDIT: UPDATED!

So, Shazam 2 came even lower than estimates, making it the second worst debut of a DCEU movie ever, above only The Suicide Squad and even so the difference between the two was of only R$50k. Can it at least have good legs? Probably. At least the next two weeks, before Mario Bros and DnD steal the young crowd.

Scream and Creed are fast approaching 1 million in admissions, EEAAO saw a more than 229% increase and it is back at the top 10 and Corazón del Padre is the first documentary to chart in the top 10 of the year.

Next weekend, we will see John Wick 4, O Rio do Destino, Skinamarink, The Son, La Situación and Raquel 1:1.

This weekend's top 10 had R$23M total box office and mre than 1 million tickets sold. None of the local movies have charted, on what have been so far a miserable year for brazilian movies.

Scream VI is now the movie number 5 to join the club of 1 million admissions this year. Unfortunately this weekend might have killed the chance of Creed 3 joining it too, which is too bad.

JW4 have massively overperformed, with almost 3 times the opening of the previous movie and with the second best opening of the year.

Shazam didn't had a good second weekend, but could've be worse. Next weekend might be the last chance of getting some legs since Mario will most likely kill the movie.

Next weekend will release Marlowe, Cocaine Bear, Demon Slayer, The Communion Girl and Noites Alienígenas. D&D will also see some previews, two weeks before release, starting friday.

Ranking from yesterday. Swordsmith Village made a no. 2 debut but what Murgen Train is doing there I don't know lol, I wasn't aware of a re-release in theaters, but it might be the first time two anime movies chart together (Suzume releases on april 13th btw). Cocaine Bear released in 5th, was expecting worse to be honest.

5 hours ago, Issac Newton said:

In Mexico, SV almost outgrossed MT on OW.

Depending on Brazil admission, SV should cross 2M admits across LATAM (incl. Cent. America &Carribbean) - making it the only Non DB Title to exceed 2M admits..

What's Brazil is promising this time?

Shazam is expected to have a sub-50% drop this weekend, and MT made R$1.42M total. If SV holds at second place it would comfortable outgross MT's total on the first weekend too. That said, anime movies are very frontloaded so it is safe to say it probably not going to be that high on the ranking, but still, doing better than MT is a given.
