What about two full weeks more to go? lol How high can this thing go? I think it's in the kind of performance where there is simply no ceilling to it and the momentum could carry it to historic levels. I imagined it would definitely generate some hype at the opening weekend and perform really good for a Greta Gerwig movie, but at this point this is doing all time numbers just based on opening alone even if it collapses after that with bad reception (which is certainly possible). “Barbie” Greater Salvador Region tracking: T-09 SHOWINGS TOTAL SEATS SEATS SOLD PCT. Note: Added "normal" comps since it's now entering the final stage of the cycle and to give a notion about the pace of this pink monster. Note 2: In contrast to many other markets, this is getting PLFs around here. No IMAX, but IMAX in Brazil are not too many and make just a small share of PLF screens in it's totality. Her being in the movie is being used as a main selling point by Warner. It’s wild how Blue Beetle is one of the most watched and liked WB trailers of the year. Bruna Marquezine. Her power. Glad to know and be confident that regardless of what happens, Blue Beetle and hopefully Bruna are playing the long game in the DCU.

IronJimbo & Sheldon's Son
I know it's impossible, not least because of capacity constraints, but that Fast X T-9 comp is actually similar to the Fast X comp DOM in USD (R$83.11M = $17.12M)

ZattMurdock
A cyclone is hitting Brazil starting with Rio Grande do Sul and going up in the upcoming days, I feel like moviegoing might be heavily affected by that, at very least in the South and Southeast states. It is honestly almost impossible to predict the weekend accurately, this is uncharted territory, this level of kenergy cannot be measured. I am not giving my own personal predictions, I'm just gonna say that you are all for something very special and I wouldn't be surprised if Brazil becomes one of the top territories for this movie. It probably will since it will be sharing space with Oppenheimer, the second weekend of MI7 and the legs of Elemental, but at the same time it will probably affect the other movies more than Barbie
ThatWaluigiDude
In a weird twist of generosity from Warner, they have shared numbers. Barbie sold so far for the pre-release 300k tickets and around R$6.1M.

With this data, could you give a better estimation for the OW? Something around 15M USD?
ThatWaluigiDude
Okay, why not. OPPENHEIMER, NATAL T-7 T-7 Cinemark: Not started T-7 Cinepolis: 3 showings, 658 seats, 22 sold (3.34%) T-7 Moviecom: 2 showings, 208 seats, 0 sold (20.86%) T-7 Cineflix: 2 showings, 265 seat, 5 sold (1.89%) T-7 Total: 7 showings, 1131 seats, 27 sold (2.39%) Comps (First day of pre-sales): Spiderverse (57.47%) TLM (300%) Fast X (31.03%) I don't have good comps for this, but it seens like a healthy start for an adult drama like this. I'm looking at São Paulo and am kinda shocked that it loooks like it is doing pretty well there. Maybe this will also have a decent opening. What is funny is that some chain have embraced the Barbenheimer, some chains over there are offering half off for one of them if you buy for the other and some are doing late double screenings with both. What is even happening anymore. 2 hours ago, Bob-omb said: That is really nice from them. Great numbers. How close to what you had estimated with the data you have tracked? If it did opened with R$6.1M on the thursday it would lead to a R$45M+ opening. Hope this is doesn't get poorly aged, but let's mark a R$45M weekend as the minimum, a "worst case scenario" Edited July 14, 2023 by ThatWaluigiDude 2

ThatWaluigiDude
Remember when I said Barbie and Oppenheimer were getting some double-screen together in São Paulo? This is how those screenings look one day after sales started. Other days after release day are similar. Actual official promo. lol Edited July 15, 2023 by ThatWaluigiDude 1
