This holiday, R$41.09 was made during the weekend and 1.89M tickets sold, 36% increase (Rest of the admissions later today). 2023 have passed 100M admissions total.

A very heathy children's day almost pulled the very rare feat of having the whole top 10 above R$1M. Almost! Paw Patrol had it best with a very nice increase and passing the mark of 1 million admissions. Trolls 3 despite being only on the previews, had the best opening of the trilogy, also beating the second movie's total out of the gate. Is this the best pre-release a movie ever had? I don't know, but right now memory fails me to find one that did better. The actual release should decrease though.

Exorcist had the 5th best release of a horror this year, Sound of Freedom beat 2 million admissions, Nosso Sonho increased again and have a solid change of becoming the best selling brazilian movie this year soon. Gal and Xuxa did not opened as good as I hoped, but I hope some of the good legs of Nosso Sonho can rub it on them too.

Next weekend is the actual release of Trolls 3, alongside Killers of the Flower Moon, The Book of Wonder and Heaven Can't Wait

The horror genre have seen some massive grown in Brazil lately. Compared to 2019, the genre have sold 27.5% more in 2023, this year alone 10.7M tickets were sold for the genre, 4 horror movies sold 1M+ tickets and 3 sold in between 700k-1M. With the iminent breakout of FNAF, this year have a chance of becoming the best selling year ever for the horror genre.

Grabbed my tickets for Marvels, it just opened here in Brazil. I’m seeing movement for the midnight sessions, but not really that much for the other days.

In my city the first two days and the midnight sessions have sold a grand total of two tickets 💀

I got tickets for the midnight imax screening in Porto Alegre and those are all gone, but very few tickets other than the IMAX screenings are selling so far. TBH, that’s not that unusual here. Let’s see how it goes.

10 The Nun 2 260.000 -73.1% 54.590.000 --- 2.999.000

Around R$20M and 887k tickets were sold during the weekend.

Drops might look rough this weekend but no alarm, that is normal and totally expected from a weekend after a big holiday. It was a battle for the second place and as you can see the movies ranked between 2 and 5, the admissions were all over the place.

KOTFM was the top (and only) new release, it opened a little better than Wolf of Wall Street (R$2.8M, and then legged out to R$14.6M total). It had the best screen average from the top 10 and it was a little damaged for the low screen count.

From the big list of "almost", The Equalizer 3 is almost passing the second movie's R$13.3M to become the highest grossing of the trilogy. Saw X is almost above 1M admissions, let's see if horror season can push it above it. Nun 3 is almost above 3M, and Nosso Sonho is only R$530k shy of becoming the highest grossing local movie of the year.

Next weekend is time for FNaF, The Killer, Hypnotic, Mavka and They Shot the Piano Player.

What is even happening to Marvels anymore. 5 days later and the number of tickets sold increased to only 12. It still haven't beat the first day of Flash and Blue Beetle, in fact, these 5 days are half of the first day of Transformers and less than 1/4 of the first day of Spiderverse.

I keep saying that is always wise not to bet against Marvel on Brazil and I stick to it, but so far the pre-sales over here are abysmal. Really really bad.

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S, NATAL T-1

T-1 Cinemark: 6 showings, 1650 seats, 420 sold (25.45%)

T-1 Cinepolis: 7 showings, 1451 seats, 69 sold (4.72%)

T-1 Moviecom: 4 showings, 637 seats, 37 sold (5.81%)

T-1 Cineflix: 8 showings, 2032 seat, 138 sold (6.77%)

T-1 Total: 25 showings, 5770 seats, 799 sold (3.77%)

Comps:

GotG3 - 150.6% (R$7.7M)

Flash - 168.5% (R$5.7M)

Spiderverse - 239.9% (R$5.98M)

Oppenheimer - 173.8% (R$6.3M)

Barbie - 11.2% (R$2.6M)

Fast X - 65.1% (R$3.58)

A little late but here is how FNAF looks at the final day of pre-sales. From the movies I've tracked it had the 3rd best final numbers. One thing I noticed is that is not really behaving like a normal horror movie, in a sense that the early screens are doing much better than the late screens (opposite on how horror behave over here), this makes me think the core audience is much younger than the usual horror audience, if that's it it will perform closer to a Marvel movie.

With all that in mind and the comps, I believe in a thursday of R$5-6M and a weekend of R$35M+, possible R$40M+. BUUUUUUUT movie is available digitally and piracy could or could not hurt the legs so don't take my prediction for granted just yet.

Monday - wednesday (23/10 - 25/10)

1)- Trolls 3: R$1.15M - 77.6k admissions

2)- Sound of Freedom: R$1M - 59.5k admissions

3)- KOTFM: R$840k - 46.01k admissions

4)- Exorcist: R$770k - 52.6k admissions

5)- Paw Patrol: R$570k - 42.7k admissions

- Nosso Sonho: R$250k+ - 17.6k admissions

- Sky Can't Wait: R$223.5k - 14.4k admissions

Sky Can't Wait did something unusual and more than doubled what it earned on the launch weekend during the weekdays. Trolls 3 from this week and the last is straight up having bad weekdays despite remaining on top. Nosso Sonho is only 1k behind Os Aventureiros to become the top brazilian movie in admissions.

Five Nights at Freddy's sold R$3.5M on thursday and 202.8k admissions. Quite lower than my predictions but still managed to get the second best opening day for a horror this year, bellow Nun 2 (Though remember that Nun2 opened on a holiday day and was quite frontloaded the first weekend).

Nosso Sonho sold 4.8k tickets yesterday, meaning is officially the most watched brazilian movie of the year.

FNAF managed the best horror opening of the year, the 5th best of the year overall and to become the movie no. 26 to sell 1 million tickets this year. KOTFM had an outstanding second weekend, pulled by great WoM, and despite a lot of promotion, Hypnotic got only a 5th place release.

Next weekend there will be the release of Eras Tour on friday, one day before that it will release Mussum - O Filmis, It Lives Inside, Dumb Money and Nefarious.

Since then, with 11 days of pre-sales Marvels have now matched the first day of pre-sales from Spiderverse.
