Fullbuster
Moana reached $21m in Brazil, making it the 3rd biggest WDAS movie behind Tangled and Frozen. In local currency it's the largest WDAS movie.
Fullbuster
Lego Batman OW : $2m It's more than The Lego Movie in 2014 ($1.7m OW) despite a terrible exchange rate, meaning that the jump in local currency must be quite consequent The number by itself is not amazing at all, it's ok but that also means it won't even reach $10m...The Lego Movie grossed $5.7m back then. Fullbuster
COMPARISON THE LEGO MOVIE (OPENING WEEK) : R$4.4m LEGO BATMAN OW : R$6.2m (+41%) It's doing pretty well in Brazil, at least there is an important growth even if it's not an impressive number.
Fullbuster
FIFTY SHADES DARKER has been impressive this weekend, having grossed $7.5m in its opening weekend, more than the first movie ($6.5m), making Brazil one of the few territories where it outperformed, and this despite a terrible exchange rate, the increase in local currency is obviously even better.
Fullbuster
However it probably got less admissions than the first one.

Fullbuster
However I think it will gross less than the first one that had pretty great legs and ended around $31m. Reaching $31m is not easy with such a terrible ER.
Fullbuster
And by the way, this thread finally passed 500,000 views, a real success, that's great Let's hope for a great year when it comes to this Brazilian Box Office. With Beauty & The Beast, Furious 8, GOTG2 and Wonder Woman the first half of the year will be very exciting for sure.

Fullbuster
THE LOCAL MOVIE MY MOM IS A CHARACTER 2 HAS PASSED MINIONS IN LOCAL CURRENCY TO BECOME THE 6TH BIGGEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME WITH R$121m. The movie should end its run behind The Avengers R$129m, for a local movie it's really impressive. That also means $38.9m, an impressive number in USD, a number not seen since Captain America Civil War ($40.5m).
Fullbuster
MOANA REACHED R$69.8m, becoming the 27th biggest movie of all time, ahead of Noah and The Fault in Our Stars, it will probably end at the 26th or 25th rank, it is sure to pass Shrek 4 (R$70.4m). Fullbuster
La La Land reached R$19.3m ($6.2m), the movie did well given the limited number of screens.
Fullbuster
In 2016 Brazil reached the number of 3,168 screens available. It is more than in 2015 and is constantly increasing, however it is still less than in Mexico despite the fact Mexico is less populated, meaning that Brazil has a lot of room to grow.
