JWD had 4.8M admits, would have expected that leading to $400M but guess World Cup final may impact things

JP franchise and Pixar are kings of walk-ins. The thing with Avatar is I don't know if has enough cache to catch on families like those ones.

What's also annoying is the fact that 3D shows are lacking and you can see the difference on sales compared to 2D. Theatres need to ramp up those shows and reduce 2D.

World Cup impact may difer on which teams play. If Argentina or Brazil move throughout then impact is big but if it's Euro-centric it'll be less.

im not mexican but im currently in a latam country and seeing something similar; the biggest theater chain is pretty much doing exclusively 2d shows, something like 90% 2D (overwhelming majority of their theaters wont have 3d) the 2nd largest one has a pretty even spread,  the 3rd and 4th (tbf that one is a lowcost chain) are simply not doing 3d at all, 5th one is CINEPOLIS and theyre doing like 2/3rd's 3d but they dont have a big enough market share to make much of a difference

2d is selling ok-ish, but the 3d showings are almost all half full

I wonder if there are supply issues or if theyre just unwilling to invest, if WOM about the presumably amazing 3d spreads, then it could be funny seeing stubbon theaters pretty much become Puss-in-boots-2 watching machines

extra question: do you know if cinepolis managed to upgrade all of its ww screens in time for avatar 2?

Well I know it's not a technology/infrastructure issue with Cinépolis; their projectors have capacity. Seems more like stubbornness because honestly after cheap 3D people were resilient to give it a chance; is not like Brazil where 3D can make up to 50% of gross.

Hopefully sales motivates them to get more 3D shows, is clear people don't see this as another Hollywood title with fake 3D.

Is that good for previews? I'm rooting for puss at the BO since I saw the early screening.

It's good. They were announced practically last minute and little effort. Animations always leg well throughout holidays so expecting a nice run.
