Tricky for Avatar and PiB2. They do are above Coco but with lower results as they're TFSS numbers and Coco just FSS. More like $48M for Avatar and $45M for PiB2. Insane for the latter.

No Way Home is a mess since Wed wasn't even previews but a whole opening day so I wouldn't even include it in comps. Is like that Spectre record in the UK.

True enough but that's also true for weekends before 2017, not that movies made that much anyway - COCO being exception.

Maybe, I should change NWH's record as 5 Day? Yeah, Let's do that.

Was this a holiday wknd or something? If not puss can probably take the 6th wknd record right? Would be insane to have a new one twice in consecutive weeks :excited:

There hasn't been a funny, no-frills, laughter-infused animated movie since Minions 2, families were starving for entertainment. Lightyear, Strange World and SuperPets were quite heavy for this audience. It doesn't hurt that there's not much competition these days, and if a movie resonates with the audience, it will do well (A2, Boots, M3gan). Even A Man Called Otto may reach 100M lc!

CANACINE numbers are in line with Comscore, for once.  Avatar 2 up to 13 million tickets sold, passed Dominion; less than 200K to reach Minions 2 and become the #1 movie of 2022 in admissions too.

Top Movies All Time (Admissions)

22    13,176,000    Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022)

24    13,000,000    Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

25    12,657,000    Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)

27    11,953,000    Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

I'm seeing a lot of buzz (and promotion) for the horror Winnie the Pooh movie!

Puss in Boots 2 wom is also through the roof. It reminds me a bit of The Greatest Showman back in 2017-2018.

First time since 2017 (excl 2020 for obvious reasons) that a Marvel title doesn't show up in yearly Top 3.

May be another weekend of Puss in Boots breaking Way of Water's previous weekend record. Former at $380M and latter at $1.04B.

Seems like o/u $1.1B for Avatar in the end. It should hold softly from now until Quantumania releases and takes a dive in screens.
