To be fair, admissions for those 9 movies probably outstrip the total population in most countries.  😛

Try Germany🤣

Endgame: 5.1M

Inifity War: 3.5M

GotG 2: 2.5M

AoU: 2.4M

Avengers: 2.3M

CM: 2.1M

IM 3: 1.9M

GotG: 1.8M

BP: 1.8M

(CW: 1.7M)

(FFH: 1.7M final total)

And I took the Top 9 movies.

23.4M vs 83M -> 28.2% or for the same movies it would be 22.5M or 27.1%. And even if all 22 are combined that still would only be 38M so still only 45.8%.

Yeah, Europe are a bunch of party poopers :sadno:

I think it’s like 150% for those 9 in SK. Wonder if Brazil or some SE country is over 200%

To be fair, Germany and Japan are the worst regarding this ticket sales to population metric of all major countries for the MCU (and for the last 10 years of hollywood blockbusters in general)

You are totally right, we are only good for bad animation (minions) and SW and HP. Though Endgame did great in Germany.

SW: The OT is at 18.1M, PT is at 20.3M and the ST is at 15M (the two Spin-Offs 5.4M) so the 10 SW movies are at 58.8M which shows that even the big franchises with movies dating back into more active times aren't able to achieve that. Making SW pretty much the only franchise were new movies outperform the old ones even though it only happens barely.

Or the 8 HP movies 62.3M + 7.4M (last year Fantastic Beast 2 was the most successful move in Germany), still not enough. The first HP movie is the biggest movie of this millennium and still comfortably holds the OWend record with the only two that ever got close being two other Harry Potter movies (2 & 4).

Craziest Trilogy though is definitely Lord of The Rings 33M on 3 Movies. Hobbit is only at 18.9M but together still 51.9M.

Shows how the cinema is dying in Germany.

Brazil has a bigger population than Mexico by almost 100M people but yet it sells less tickets.

Argentina isn't that crazy for SH like other countries as per @Hei25 so I'm not sure the ratio is as big there.

Curious about Chile. @salvador-232 may have an idea.

Very interesting how SW performs so opposite there and here in Latam. I don't expect any MCU movie to come close to EG there but at least could it keep some consistency and not decrease so much?

HP has been very strange to me. The first saga was very successful here but without the OG characters FB didn't worked, not even the addition of Dumbledore could save it and now it just seems like other SW

Hobbs and Shaw starts previews at 9:00 PM today. They're starting an hour earlier than DP and JW3. Also this is the widest number of previews I've seen since they started last year with I2.

Tickets are selling well, they've been increasing good the last couple of days. Was thinking to compare it with JW3 given they both have a fan-base and skew male but JW3 had a C Rating and H&S is B. I don't know if DP would be reliable. Glass could work too, we'll see how it turns out tomorrow.

Southern cone countries are less super hero and more animation heavy, especially Argentina.

In Chile i don't have exact admission data for Captain Marvel but the ratio for top 9 seems close to 69-70%. Now keep in mind that while Infinity War and Endgame both got the all time crown, they are the only super hero movies in the top 20.

To round up the idea about SH movies in Argentina, while Endgame is the most attended movie ever in many countries or the 2nd. In Argentina is the 6th, and Infinity War is barely in the top 20 most attended movies. Both being the most attended movies in the genre.

Interesting. So it seems it's only Mexico and Brazil are mad about super-hero movies in the region.
