Elvis should be doing better on weekends like The Batman because of its nearly 3 hour run time.

TGM getting ready to explode this July 4th weekend!

I'm surprised Thor's not taking advantage of the 4th of July holiday. It would actually be the perfect movie for it.

First day below $5m for TGM. Is that a record streak? 31 days.

Had 13 days above 10m, and another 18 above 5m, Will it have another 20+ days before it drops below 2.5m?

I wonder that too but it seems, like Dead Man's Chest, the weekend after the 4th of July is a pretty coveted one. I'm sure there's a reason. It does provide an extra weekend of buffer between it and TGM and JWD which would be going for the same blockbuster audience. Not sure it needed it but it gets it.

3 weeks between Lightyear and Minions having claimed all the IMAX/PLF screens for the holiday weekend.

July 4th as a holiday is always, at least historically, weird. The day itself isnt a help so it deflates the weekend if it falls FSS, and the days around it are odd with other issues. Hence why in the past you usually saw mid-week openings for the bigger films.

Who the hell watches Minions and Lightyear in IMAX? People are weird.

Studios gotta push their expensive animated movies as events, ya know. Expect Strange World to also get IMAX since it's going to be the big release for Thanksgiving this year now that Creed 3 has quietly moved to 2023.

Yes, it is, previous record holder was Avatar with 26 (dropped below 5m on Wednesday of it's fourth week, Jurassic World, The Force Awakens, Toy Story 3, Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 all dropped below 5m on Monday in their fourth weeks).

(Regarding 10m:

Record belongs to The Last Jedi and Rogue One each had 18 consecutive days above 10m.

And then The Force Awakens, Avatar, No Way Home and the Incredibles 2 have 17 consecutive days above 10m.

Interesting thing: the first 17 days of The Force Awakens weren't just above 10m, they also all were above 20m.

Regarding TGM:

This week will probably be around 4m each day, than the weekend, so that's 7 days:

Next week: Monday and Tuesday are going to be above 5m each, Wednesday and Thursday should do it (despite Thor) and then the weekend, so in total 14 days.

The Monday and Tuesday after that should work too (16 days), I'd worry above Wednesday and Thursday though - they could both go barely below 2.5m - if they don't the movies is at 21 days and then the next Monday should definitely be below it.

At that time it would have 52 days above 2.5m, the same amount of days as Avatar and with that it would tie the record, I think.

Well, in the case of Lightyear, Pixar tried something new... The film contains 30 minutes of IMAX animation, thanks to Pixar developing a virtual IMAX camera system (including a large sensor equivalent to 65mm and spherical lenses) to shoot the sequences at full frame 1.43:1. Meanwhile, the rest of the movie was simultaneously shot in virtual anamorphic 2.39:1 by “center cropping” the image. This widescreen presentation emulates the way ’70s and ’80s sci-fi movies were shot and the way most moviegoers will experience “Lightyear.”

Minions though, yeah, not sure.

A Pixar film in IMAX makes sense since they attract many adults that will likely want to appreciate the amazing animation on the biggest screen possible but there is zero reason to waste IMAX screens on Minions

Elvis is going to have a nice run. Close to 4x multiplier, 115-120m domestic tally. Decent.

That's another solid number for TGM. Now that 620m and entering all-time top 10 is a lock, it's ok to move the goalpost and set sights at JW's 653m then ultimately target BP's 700m.

TGM is tracking 67m behind JW and 82m behind BP with two full months of summer, 4th of July and LD to come. How does this 5th Monday compare? JW and BP both did around 2.1m, so TGM seem to double that, so will chipping away nicely all week long and big chunk of deficit getting cut over the weekend.

700m is more probable than not.
