This is most likely true but it may not be over yet. The Little Mermaid remake is coming next year. It was the film that kickstarted Disney’s animation resurgence so there may be some life left in the 80s nostalgia.

Typically, the nostalgia cycle - when something old becomes new/popular again - is one generation, roughly a 20-30 year gap. TGM is a bit of an exception, being 35 years ago … but also why the audience skewed much older

We’re fully into 90s nostalgia territory, with early 2000s on deck

Exciting cuz this set of weekdays (and potentially following Monday) will determine whether TGM manages to tie Avatar/E.T. for second most consecutive days over $1m (I think if it pulled it off next Monday somehow it would break that tie) after Titanic.

I think it will be difficult than thursday will be over 1 M, so monday will be really difficult, but i´d love it to get this 81 days and being number 2 all time in this list, let´s see!!!
