The way it makes the violence with the kids fun without being self counscious like in Kick Ass for example makes this film morally dubious.

I remember it as that dumb japenese movie with awesome fights and violence with kids.

Because kids killing and torturing other kids is so fun that the director had to find creative and new ways for these kids to hurt and kill each other for each fight.

Take out the violence with kids schock factor out of this movie and you are left with pretty much nothing.

This movie has always been known to be that crazy japenese movie where kids are hurting other kids in awesome action sequences.

Violence porn with kids.

The violence of this movie is so well thought out and choreagraphed that it glamorizes it.

This movie is reknown outside of Japan only because of its violence with kids schock argument.

It s not because you dare to show with perverse pleasure something that is morally schocking that it makes it good, interesting or relevant.

Boy, this movie really got a second wind from bitter hunger games fans like the futurist and internet know-it-alls who whine about the hunger games being a rip-off. you're all the worst btw.

I thought the same about Battle Royale before seeing THG. Dumb movie with amazing and violent fights with kids. That s what I got from it when I saw it.

Battle royale and THG have nothing in common, never understood the comparison.

Feel free to conclude what you want.

I mean, I don't believe you, but if I did you can't deny that overall, what I say is true. Most of this movie's hate comes from people who have a hard on for the hunger games and some of the love comes from people who fucking hate hg.

And again, it's not about the shock value of the violence to me.  It's the fact that the games are more interpersonal and there's actual real conflict between the people that forces desperate actions to be taken in those horrible circumstances.  You can see a history between the classmates which just doesn't exist in THG.

THG and its sequel play out more like survival games rather than games that pit the people against each other.  It just lessens the tension and impact of the games to me and downgrades my opinion of both of them.

In the THG the point was to show the rest of the districts that the government is in charge and it broadcast them to all.

In Battle Royale the games take place and that is it.

In THG it is like life revolves around the games while in BR the teens did not know anything about it.

Maybe we saw different versions of the movie, but I thought the BR act was explained in the beginning of the movie.  The fact that the kids have no idea what the act was just highlighted the intent of the act.  The games are there in both movies as intimidation factors to try to quash rebellion.

However in BR how would it quash rebellion if the kids were not scared or fearful of it and simply did not even know about it.

It's not like they were trying to keep it a secret, the kids were just ignoring it.  There's news cameras all around to interview the 'winner' somewhere in the beginning.  The fact that it wasn't effective and the government kept doing it probably indicates how sadistic the government had become.  But to be honest, the tactic itself is stupid and illogical anyway in either movie.  It's not a good way to quash rebellion, it's just a hook for the movie.
