Seems reasonable to me as well, even if i think THU would be deflated anyway because of the runtime hurting later shows during weekdays [TUE the only outlier maybe because of the discounts]

I'm still of the opinion that it would have increased more without the weather.  For the same reason that everything except the Wednesday's openers increased in 2016 - by the time Friday hits, you have a lot more people out of college/school and people on holiday.

Just watched Strange World and Matilda on Disney+ and Netflix, respectively, and... why take your kids to the theater when both of these films are good and in your house?

See, I think I interpret the numbers as Thurs/Fri being the most impacted by the weather and then the great drop on Saturday was some catch up from people that missed out the previous couple of days 🤷‍♂️

Can’t speak for other places, but Saturday was warmer than Friday in TX and other central time zone population. Still cold, but a decent amount warmer. That was probably helpful for the Saturday movie attendance in central time zone.

Yeah, and without any precipitation there wasn't anything to get in the way of getting out.

All you would need is insight into numbers. Look at California, compare it to the rest of the country and there you go...

I still think there's a lot of paths open for the movie, so the performance from here is, in my opinion, still a mystery with a wide range of outcomes.

Well that’s just it isn’t it? Disney movies in particular have suffered because they’ve created the expectation in the audience that they’ll have it at home in just a few weeks. If they want the box office to improve they’re gonna have to stop doing that, make it like three months at least. Or something like that anyway.

Maybe movie theaters have a chance of survival in the coming decade(s) if Hollywood remains in competition with itself to see who can put out the shittiest uninspired fantasy/scifi shows.

All I'll say is Netflix is the McDonald's of entertainment. Lowest common denominator quality stuff. Streaming in general is the fast food of entertainment, but Netflix and Disney+ are the worst.
