Apparently the offer was too good to refuse, Only five major studios boycott the country. A lot of independent movies were realeased. People just didnt care about most of them. John Wick 4 is the first major Hollywood movie in 13 months and that helps a lot.
TigerPaw
In Singapore, there are 3 big cinema chains (Gv, Shaw, Cathay) the local distributor is the largest (GV) - but seems to have fell out with the 2nd largest (Shaw), and now Shaw has decided to limit its showtimes / location in its cineplexes... Gosh.

Of course, Lionsgate sold the rights for a very good price. Final presales will be around $300k. About half of that for the opening day. No, I think Lionsgate most likely sold the rights before the war, the movie was delayed by a year if I'm not mistaken, so it's more of one time event. Wick is a special case;it was sold to a Russian Distriubtor before the war began. You won't see a return to Russian theaters any time soon; I actually think PUtin does not want Hollywood back bigtime, given his efforts to block access to wester media in general. It's back to the Soviet Union. Edited Thursday at 12:15 AM by dudalb

charlie Jatinder
14M OD pre-sales. Final may be 60M+. Weekend can see hit 400M ($5.25M). Inc CIS $6M perhaps.
TigerPaw
Similar to Singapore - Taiwan distributor had a dispute with Cinema chain. It is not shown in 1/3 of the theaters across Taiwan. But OD still higher (slightly) than JW3. Asia will definitely do better cause of Donnie Yen; Singapore and Malaysia selling very well OD today.
