That is a brave prediction looking at Korea and China presales and Japan rejecting most Disney stuff in post pandemic era. That plus $ still being really strong. Its key markets are Europe, Latin America and Australia. I dont have any inclination on how it will do. But I feel this will not be one of the big breakouts. I would say 350-400m.

I won't write off Korea yet as they can give long legs if WOM is there and ofc Japan could do anything. That said won't be surprised with sub $300M either.

That is why I said its a brave prediction and not improbable. There are many unknowns. but I am not feeling it in many markets based on what is being tracked. Even Mex/Bra dont look that great.

Thinking closer to Cinderella ($341 million OS) numbers for now. Should hopefully be enough to cross $700 million WW.

I think assuming even if it bombs in China and SK it will bomb in JP too is a bit hasty. I don't think it will do Aladdin/BatB but I hope it can still do well (in yen of course). Japan does its own thing so whether something bombs or succeeds elsewhere does not necessarily mean anything. But of course disney shat the bad+black lead+no star power combo is not a great look in jp.

 

I think 400 would be good here but could see it in the 300s or lower if things go south in europe/latam.

I guess Europe and Latam will make or break this film. Asia (except maybe Japan but we won't know for 2 more weeks) seems like a non-starter here. Even then I doubt it will beat Aladdin in either place...and like half of Aladdin OS came from Asia. So sub 400 without a Japan breakout feels very likely to me.

It's not looking particularly strong in Latin America if Mexico is any indication. OW is tracking between Cinderella than Aladdin; but unlike the Genie, competition will impact its Ursula-given legs.
