The LOTR show costing way more than the trilogy and not looking a fraction as pretty or impressive, despite the trilogy being 25 years old and having more footage to spread the budget thin, says it all about budget control being needed on these shows.

Studios need to be way more focused on *gasp* the writing with these shows.

I disagree with this big time. The show was mostly boring but it looked incredible.

Yes, the show was gorgeous.

Yeah the production values for the most part were pretty good. You could see where the money went.

Unlike other certain large budget franchise adaptations

Yup, you could see the money in the production values. Too bad they went cheap on the writing side. A well written show would have served Amazon better.

It's highly unlikely the strikes last until 2024 since they're already back on at least speaking terms with WGA, but if AMPTP were to somehow let it drag out until the new year with no end in sight, they might as well be taken out back and given the Old Yeller treatment.

TBH 2024 was always unlikely, it's too much financial pain for everyone.

Yeah, A24 is a true indie studio (unlike The Big 5 and semi-majors that are full-blown corporations like Lionsgate and MGM), which has made the eye-rolling over all the approvals their movies even more silly. Just goes to show how ingrained within the public conscious the perception that everyone in the entire entertainment industry is obnoxiously rich (spoiler alert: they're not) is.
