The problem in Europe is not the black lead. Its the lack of stars. Switch them with Zendaya and Harry Styles and it explodes.

or maybe general lack of interest in Disney live action remakes

£5.1M for TLM

Aladdin - £5.727M FSS (£7.06M OW)

Beauty &Beast - £19.67M

Lion King - £16.7M

Thanks.

I found the US dollars on BOM anyway.

The same people who would have skipped TLM in America for having a black lead are already convinced that Disney is a cabal of pedophiles putting sexual messages in their movies to turn kids transgender, so I just don't really see the impact here. The Disney brand has definitely been mega-hurt by toxic racists over the last two years, but at this point it's a larger Disney issue not a TLM issue.

Now, internationally, different story.

Ya'll need to take a deep breath and remember that:

1. DOM OW > Aladdin is spectacular for Miss Ariel

2. Disney released Avatar 2 literally just 5 months back, featuring a Native American coded race of aliens played by actors of all races, and it went on to become Top 3 WW

They are making a Snow White movie ...

WITHOUT the dwarfs??

What?

Yeah I remember somewhere the rumor (at the time) they weren't casting dwarves cause it was offensive to little people and the little people l e said  'so you want to take jobs away from us?'

Rachel Zelgar might pull off the hat trick in bombs.

She might do it with Hunger Games

She's gonna pull a haul with Snow White

Hollywood has been pushing her for years and if Snow White flops she's pretty much done as a leading lady. Flop after flop hurts most established actresses just look at Margot Robbie whose career is on a plank right now.

Thinking about the international start.  Aladdin had one thing TLM doesn’t, Will Smith.

I mean, Will Smith is popular, but I think it would exagerated to attribute him the difference at international level.

I mean, Aladdin's OW in EU is only a little better than Little Mermaid's OW.

I assume Disney dropped the dwarves after being publicly dragged by Peter Dinklage when news of the remake broke.

So, rather than updating them from being miners in a cave to something modern and cool and giving 7 little people starring roles in a Disney movie, they are having "magical creatures" of some sort that sorta will kinda fill the same role?

Yeah, keep me in the financial bomb category...

I mean, they are the heroes of the dang movie.  And you took them out - who makes these decisions at Disney?
