TOM CRUISE LOVES HIS POPCORN. MOVIES. POPCORN: THE WEEKEND THREAD | We are just waiting for Barbenheimer here

Recommended Posts

Weird to see outlets going hard on MI7 numbers considering they was so easy on Indy 5 way worse situation.

But nice opening considering how it was looking 2 days ago even if it’s definitely disappointing. I don’t see many reasons to think it won’t reach 200M DOM.

Should be enough for 650M WW, maybe even 700M depending on legs (Barbie doesn’t seem that big on Asia and Oppenheimer doesn’t looks like OS monster tbh). We saw very well received movies having outstanding legs this summer despite not great openings so let’s wait.

But standard reception overall for the series, shows consistency, it just needs to have better luck with budget for Part 2

Good Opening.....

If movie didn't had the budget of 291 million and Tom Cruise wasn't coming off from TGM and Fallout wasn't one of the best action movies in recent times and DR Part 1 hadn't gotten glorious reviews and there wasn't Barbieheimer in 2nd weekend.

Good thing none of that happened, so good Opening.

agree,  this is still a very average opening and it’s hard to see how it can save face with Barbenheimer next week. Best thing to hope is strong Legs after  next  weekend and Paramount to realize they fucked up with scheduling and marketing here

While people generally surprised by how SoF perform, the movie is actually mimicking the BO run of some of the local right-wing fueled movies across the world like Wolf-warrior, the battle of lake changin from China, Mat Kilau in Malaysia.

SoF definitely feasted on a chunk that would have gone to MI7.
I’m happy with DR’s opening with where we were a couple of days ago with it. WOM kicking in and older audiences, as expected, showing up at their own pace.

Older audiences came out during the weekend. How shocking. Wish I had spent the week saying that would happen...

Uhhhhh… have you, perhaps, accidentally reversed the movie titles in this sentence?
