Update from Deadline: Through Tuesday, Garfield has gobbled up $105M worldwide. That includes $71M from overseas, playing in 51 markets.  The Top 5 to date are Mexico ($17.6M), Germany ($5.3M), Brazil ($5.2M), Spain ($5M) and UK ($4.6M). Still to release on are Indonesia, Australia and Poland next session, followed by France on July 31 and Japan on August 16.

Box Office Pro: Internationally the movie was #1 as well, taking in $27M on 11,500+ screens in 60 overseas markets (only down -3%), with France and Japan still left to open. Alcon opened the movie in China, the biggest market with $8.2M, already surpassing the lifetime gross of both Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and Migration in that territory. Poland brought in $2.4M while Australia scored $2M. The international total comes to $100.6M with a global cume of $152.2M.

The UK came back for seconds down just 5% in its sophomore session for a cume of $8.1M. Mexico has now preyed upon $19M, which is 9% ahead of the lifetime of The Secret Life of Pets 2. Malaysia jumped up 21% in its second weekend to elevate its cume to $1.5M, the fourth highest total of the year for a Hollywood title in the market.

 

Still to release markets include France and Japan.
