Flip Posted May 11 Posted May 11 380-400m. The original is loved, and I think the movie is crazy enough in a good way that people will come in droves Quote
Purple Minion Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Deadline: Gladiator II eyeing an international debut in the $80M-$90M range with the possibility of upside. Quote
titanic2187 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 (edited) Main market of the original. UK -39m France- 24m Germany- 21m Australia-18m Spain- 18m (wow!) Japan-15m south Korea-14m italy- 12m (that is low for a movie about gladiator) From the early look of the number , seem like South Korea won’t be able to catch the original height but France and Italy are doing good. Italy just had 470k OD. Edited November 17 by titanic2187 Quote
keysersoze123 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 We have to keep an eye on Dune 2 comps as that would be optimal for this movie. Probably will beat it in Latin American markets and few european markets as well. Lose to it in some markets as well. I hope it does hit 400m OS and 600m WW. Quote
vale9001 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 (edited) 470k euros opening in Italy (dune 2 opened with 420K but with 280k previews the day before). Dune made 3.7M 5 days for 5 days + previews. This definitely should be less frontloaded than dune that was a Part II of a movie,.so people waited 3 years to see how the story ends and Need to go at the First day or previews. plus important factor: Yesterday there was a prime time match with the National soccer team + the tennis atp finals with Sinner (italian player) definitely damaged a Little bit. I feel like It can make around dune numbers for the weekend (3.5M) even with a day and and half less. Dune didn't grew up that much during the weekend. This seems to have a broader appeal. Yep, almost 7M for the National team and 3M for Sinner, so a big audience. The first one became like a classic here, so I'm expecting big numbers this weekend. Quote
vale9001 Posted November 16 Posted November 16 big start in Spain with second best friday this year. 5M weekend? Quote
fmpro Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Don`t have any numbers, but its doing really really well in Denmark to over the 4 day weekend. WOM seems great on SoMe. Crossing the original with around 20$ ticket price should not be a problem Quote
titanic2187 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 €1.3m Sat in Italy, double from Friday. Looks like great €3.4m OW, or $3.6m. Overall the performance looks ok across Europe except Germany. 2 Quote
vale9001 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Huge saturday in Spain with the best saturday of 2024. 2.3M It's booming in this market. Coming for 6M euros in 3 days. 3 Quote
titanic2187 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Heading back to the Colosseum 24 years after Best Picture Oscar winner Gladiator reinvented the swords and sandals genre, this sequel was No. 1 in major markets. It performed best in the UK with a No. 1 launch of $11.4M at 722 locations. Next up was France at $10.3M from 729 sites. Spain grossed $5.6M from 411, Australia delivered $4.9M at 353, and Mexico chimed in with $4.7M from 922. Elsewhere among No. 1s, Germany’s start was $4.3M from 650 locations, Italy grossed $3.8M at 530, Korea did $3.2M from 545 and Brazil was good for $3M from 759 sites. 3 Quote
Lory88 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Curiously, Italy at the bottom of Europe. Do you think it will do well in China? It's such an unpredictable market now. In Japan it went badly, in Korea it was barely decent. Quote
vale9001 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Spain Is too low for deadline. Should do more than that but in euros. Italy and germany seems right. In france if they predictions Is good It made way Better than @Grand Cineprediction. That would mean 9.5M euros so around 1.1M -1.2M tickets with sunday, not the full week. Right? Quote
vale9001 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 (edited) First gladiator made 39M in france 25M in France, 21 in germany, 18 in Spain, 12 in Italy. So Italy being the bottom doesn't seems that strange. It's like Napoleon that flopped in France. Sometimes people from a country are less interested by the idea of "americans doing something about their history". Right now Germany Is the disappointing big market in Europe. In France definitely is gonna make more than the first, in Spain too. UK and Italy are likely too. Germany would Need 5x legs so seems like won't happen Edited November 17 by vale9001 Quote

Comparaison with Dune 2 for @keysersoze123: - UK : -3% - France : +18% (without previews , probably the same) - Spain : +65% - Australia : -13% - Mexico : +21% - Germany : -47% - Italy : +16% - Korea : -32% - Brazil : +45% Globally good numbers on Europe , better than Dune 2 in Latin America . But Gladiator 2 has much bigger competition than Dune 2 and lower WOM so expect less legs . 3 2 Quote
Lory88 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 In Italy the first Gladiator grossed 16.2 million according to SIAE (not Cinetel which twenty-five years ago covered approximately 75% of theatres). Quote
