These are being announced tomorrow morning. Should provide a nice break from some of the headlines the past few days.

Any predictions for the nominees? It's definitely feeling like an unpredictable year where there will be some major surprises and snubs.

I still never understand which shows are eligible and which seasons they're nominating for. But if Shogun qualifies, it's going to just roll through it. And if it doesn't, then what are we even doing.

Eligibility is always June 1 of the previous year through May 31 of the current year.

Shogun is competing in Drama. Was originally going for Limited since it was initially billed as such but with Drama as barren as it is thanks partially to the strikes they decided to go ahead with the renewal announcement and switched categories while they could.

List is updating but all the nominees have been announced:

76th Primetime Emmy Awards - Wikipedia

Was TV bad last season? It's basically Shogun, The Bear and Baby Reindeer to run the tables. The others don't even seem like contenders especially with The Crown final season not being the big critical hit or discourse generator like normal.

Updated with all the nominees.

Not even Emma Stone fresh off of her Oscar win could drive Emmy voters to watch The Curse. Similarly, RDJ ended up saving The Sympathizer from being This Had Emmy Buzz, though the show being a nonfactor outside of a nom for him had been expected for a while.

Drama: most of the expected shows are here, and Shogun is set to clean up nicely with the wins. Mr. & Mrs. Smith might've had a stronger showing than expected, not bad for a series based on perhaps the only movie in history that has the tabloids to thank for turning it into a blockbuster.

Comedy: also no true surprises here, but happy to see Selena Gomez finally earning Emmy recognition, she's always been just as important to the delightful success of Only Murders as Steve and Martin are.

Limited: the ones that were most widely predicted made it. Both Fargo and True Detective made comebacks (the latter had been a nonstarter with the Emmys aside from Ali's nomination for 3 ever since 1, which competed in Drama), while Netflix made a strong showing with both Baby Reindeer and Ripley (time to watch both of those). Feud (also time to get around to this) did well scoring no less than 4 acting nominations (including a posthumous one for Treat Williams), and while it would've been nice to see it with a Series nom, Fellow Travelers picked up completely deserved recognition for Bomer, Bailey, and the writing. Also too bad Under the Bridge couldn't have received more attention, but yes to Gladstone continuing her domination!

Overall, these seem pretty satisfactory. Happy to see so many faves earning industry recognition!

I've seen half the drama series nominees. Shogun and Fallout were very good. 3 Body problem I thought had a great first half but fell off hard in the last three episodes (like the benioff and weiss GOT experience condensed into one season) Mr and Mrs Smith I was excited for because I love Glover's work generally but didn't really do it for me.

Slow Horses I'll catch up at some point. I watched the first two seasons when I had an Apple TV free trial and liked it a lot.

The Sympathizer is the show that got the most screwed over to me. But i basically didn't watch anything nominated in the limited series categories so idk. The thing is that RDJ's performance is actually the weakest part of that whole show.

People like to dog on Apple TV+ for, on the surface, looking like a parody streaming service that isn't real but they're definitely approaching "here to stay" status. 4 shows nominated across the three Series categories.
