Didn't see a thread for this yet. Just announced that it's opening London Film Festival in October, obviously seeking awards attention

Saoirse Ronan Leads 'Blitz,' Set to Open London Film Festival (hollywoodreporter.com)

The world premiere of Steve McQueen‘s Blitz, starring Saoirse Ronan and Harris Dickinson, will open 2024’s BFI London Film Festival (LFF) this October.

The Apple original film – directed, produced, and written by Oscar winner McQueen (12 Years a Slave) – follows the journey of nine-year-old George, played by newcomer Elliot Heffernan, in London through the Second World War. He is sent to safety in the English countryside by his mother Rita (Ronan), but is determined to make his way back to east London. As the infamous German bombing campaign concentrates on the U.K. capital, George finds himself in “immense peril” while a distraught Rita searches for her missing child.

Looks like it won't be much of a theatrical run:

The film will premiere in select cinemas Nov. 1, prior to streaming globally on Apple TV+ on Nov. 22.

Doesn’t’t seem like it’s going to a major player if it’s skipping other film festivals, doesn’t have a distributor yet, and isn’t getting much of a release.

Apple managment seems to be attracted to World War Two Projects with this and 'Masters of the Air".

Though  I admit the terms Steve McQueen WW2 drama sent images of 'The Great Escape" flashing through my mind.

Lack of cool spitfire stunts in the trailer, disappointing .

Needs more of this

BOB is great, though no WW2 action beats Michael Bays extreme exaggeration of the pearl attack attack

Reviews are solid, and from them it looks like Blitz can be very well loved by mainstream audiences.

A shame it wont have a wide theatrical release. It would be succesful and guarantee a BP nom

This is opening in a few theaters around me. Has anyone seen it and can let me know if its worth shelling out the $15 to see it on the big screen? Or can I wait a few weeks to watch it at home? Is it very much of a spectacle?
