That was the plan, originally I believe, but Connery didn't wanna unretire and they realised how stupid and weird that would be.

Loved Finney in that role. I agree with Coolio, bringing Connery back--esp. in that role--would have been a big mistake.

I think bringing Connery back period is a bad idea, but bringing him back as a villain is an even worse idea
