stripe
This year the score field looks very unpredictable, with many less known composers in charge of possible BP movies. Which ones do you think will end nommed? These are some scores that should be in contention Blitz – Zimmer Dune 2 – Zimmer (already listened, very strong new theme in it) Here – Alan Silvestri Conclave – Sam Hulick Anora - Matthew Hearon-Smith Challengers – Reznor & Ross (already listened, it works well and they do love the composers) Room Next Door – Alberto Iglesias The Brutalist – Daniel Blumberg Wild Robot – Kris Bowers Gladiator 2 – Harry Gregson-Williams Life of Chuck – Newton Brothers Sing Sing – Bryce Dessner Joker 2 – Hildur Guonadóttir Piano Lesson – Alexandre Desplat Lee – Alexandre Desplat Wicked – John Powell Inside Out 2 – Andrea Datzman (nice update on the themes by Giacchino) Horizon 1 – John Debney (classy and very very good) If – Michael Giacchino (a powerful whistful theme to remember) Do I miss anything? They love animated scores and TWR is gaining a lot of traction for animated movie nom. It could also get an Original song nom. I am listening to it right now. While there's not a strong memorable theme, it's a vibrant orchestral score. I would say the finalists will be: an animated score (TWR or Inside Out2 or Moana 2) + an epic score (Dune 2 or Gladiator 2) + two best picture contenders (Conclave or Room Next Door or Brutalist or Anora) + a score from a a top composer with multiple nods (Blitz from Zimmer, or Here from Silvestri, or Piano Lesson by Desplat). Particularly, right now I really liked Dune 2, Horizon and If, but only the former has a chance to get a nom.
