Hey all, as times grow dark - sometimes we need a good hero to save us from the doldrums of life. So, since it’s been a while since we did a comic book movie countdown, I decided to help kick it into high gear. We're going faster, higher, ladies and gents and non-binary friends! You what to know how I'll give us some further scarring, this will not be a mere top 50 but a full-on top 100 list! Yep, that is right! We are in the Endgame now!!!! And to further add some chaos to our lives, not just our traditional superhero movies count but any movies that came from comic books, graphic novels, comic strips and manga!

Rules for ballots:

  • All movies must be over 40 minutes long. Theatrical, streaming or DTV doesn’t matter so long as the 40-minute criteria is met.
  • All movies must originate from either comic books, graphic novels, comic strips or manga - so anywhere from your Marvel and DC movies, Akira, Addams Family, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Old. Original movies inspired by superhero movies such as Unbreakable or Megamind sadly are ineligble.
  • Movies released in 2024 are eligible if they debuted on or before November 10th, 2024, so Joker bros, WebHive and Deadpool crew rejoice as your movies are fair game. I wanted it to be a bit later but I realized with the holidays, it would be unfair to force it for Kraven The Hunter with how busy everyone is.
  • Include both the title and release year of each movie on the ballot.
  • DM your submissions, I will start to take submissions sometime on Saturday, November 16th, 2024 so feel free to start getting the list ready now.
  • No cheating: Users suspected of being alts of other users will be reported. This has happened with some lists in the past.
  • Once your ballot is sent, revisions are not able to be done. (Actually, going to be a bit lenient on this, you get one revision a person, but you must give me the revision within 48 hours of sending me your list originally.)
  • Deadline is January 9th, 2025! So, you want to get nuts? C'mon! Let's get nuts!

Here is 2019's list for further references.

How the lists are scored based uses the lord and savior and kung fu master @The Panda as well as our friend @cannastop's method for configuring lists for both ease and it is a really good system!

For lists containing 100 movies:
#1: 10 points

Edge Of Tomorrow is based on a light novel, which I don't think is eligible. @YM!, can you make it clear? Because if it is eligible it will be on my list.

Edge of Tomorrow was eligible in 2019, so I will count it as eligible here too.

For those who are wondering about movie eligibility - all of these count. As for the graphic novel question, the book should follow the comic-book/manga format, so for instance Old and Nimona would count because their graphic novels it was based on followed this pattern. As for the case of Wimpy Kid and Captain Underpants if memory serves me correctly, pages would mostly be writing with an illustration on the bottom. I'm starting to lean against excluding them, but if someone can make the case for them, I will listen.

Hey, just letting you know both Unbreakable and Kill Bill are ineligible as both are original films. The movie must originate from comic books, graphic novels, manga or comic strips.

yeah all of those movies have similarities to certain comic book works but they're not strictly adaptations of anything in particular.
