Moana and Maui go another adventure. Actors were good, beautiful animation, and songs were decent. Not bad.

 

Most harlious part was the MCU type mid credits setting up the big bad for the sequel.

 

Moana 3 in a few years if this turns out to be a massive hit.

Simea, SIMEA, SIMEA is the best part of this film PERIOD.

Pleasantly entertaining but highly forgettable and an obviously massive step down from the first. Also have to claim I was highly disappointed that Moana and Maui are kept apart for so much of the movie. But for a project that started as a TV series and was then converted into a theatrical feature, it could've certainly been worse.

 

Heihei remains my favorite character. His screams get me every single time.

If there is even a bit of connected universe / story crossover between Moana 2 and the upcoming live action Moana (2026) the latter’s boxoffice will go through the roof (even if Moana 2’s legs slow down in the weeks ahead). There’s apparently more appeal behind the franchise than I thought.

Ngl I felt more emotion in the 15 seconds where the coconut realized he had to sacrifice himself to save his people then I did in the entire rest of the film.

 

Very disappointed with this one, it was so clearly a TV show elevated to a film. Uninspired plot, forgettable side characters shoehorned in, animation that was clearly a step below the standard at points and possibly the worst music that's come out of Disney in years.

 

Moana and Maui were still great, and a few points were fun, so it wasn't all bad, but definitely the first WDAS film I genuinely walked out of kind of disappointed

Enjoyed this one enough. Specially the 3rd act. That was great. Ended on a high note.

Kind of weird that both this and Frozen 2 end with their lead heroine becoming demi-gods. I wish they had let Maui losing his powers stick at the end. It would've been interesting material for a third film to have he and Moana essentially switch roles.
