Kevin Willmott (4Chan series) spoke to a small group of reporters today. He then said with a wink, "Things are getting weird in Year 8. The animated film Hoof, about the cult following of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic among adult males, is coming to theaters Christmas Y8. With a little twist. I'll give you a hint; it's because it's animated."

HOURGLASS PICTURES REVEALS Y8 LINEUP

The World Beyond The Mirror, the first film on our docket, is an epic romantic sci-fi from the mind of Baz Lurhman. The story follows an eccentric professor (David Tennant) in late 19th century London who uncovers a pathway into an alternate London, a world dominated by steam punk technology and controlled by industry with an iron fist. In this world, the professor falls in love with a beautiful woman, (Marion Cotillard) before realizing that her husband is a cold-hearted industrialist. (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) The scientist is torn between love and worlds in this visually extraordinary film from a visionary director.

Next up is The Film Club, an adaption of David Gilmour's memoir of the same name, follows a man who allows his son to stop going to school on one condition - he watches three movies every week. The dramedy, directed by Jason Reitman (Best Friends) and starring Jeff Daniels, will be a celebration of family, life, and cinema. Logan Lerman is also slated to star.

The Reign Of Griswell, born from the disastrous reception of The Academy, provides a new take on the film involving a cyberpunk world where people are forced to drink an elixir to conform to society and surpress individuality. A group of youths, led by James McAvoy, makes an effort to fight this control. The film will be more violent than other dystopian films in recent years (such as 451, Barricade, Spark, and The Simulation) and will earn an R-rating. The film is directed by Andrew Niccol and also stars Ben Whishaw, Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Debicki, Dane DeHaan, Jude Law, and Christopher Plummer.

Last but not least is the heavily anticipated cartoon mashup Hand Drawn Heroes. Following a world of cartoons enhabited by cartoon characters, the film follows a charachter dreaming of getting his own show (Neil Patrick Harris) who uncovers an plot that could end the world of cartoons. To fight this, he'll need the help of several classic cartoon charachters, such as Darkwing Duck, Popeye The Sailor Man, Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, and more! This animated treat, from the directors of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and the writer of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, is sure to be a hit for all ages.

Lastly, we are pleased to announce that Ridley Scott, director of, Arcturus Entertainment's Y5 film, Worlds Apart, will be collaborating with us again to direct a film about the Crusades. We are currently not sure exactly what the film will be about as after the success of our last collaboration we've given Mr. Scott full creative control of the project, which is budgeted at $180 million dollars. He is due to submit the shooting script by the end of the month and production will commence shortly. The film will be released on Memorial Day weekend.

On an unrelated note, Arcturus Entertainment would like to acknowledge the excellent working relationship we've had over the past 3 years with the Coen Brothers. It is with great sadness and regret that we announce today that we will not be making a Coen Brothers film in Y8. We'd like to thank them for contributing to the amiable and pleasurable experience we've had working with them. We wish them, and their Y7 film, Risk Management, the best of luck and look forward to possibly working with them again in the near future.

MORE SURPRISES IN ALPHA STUDIOS' 'HOOF'

Updated April, Year 8

Kevin Willmott is excited. The prolific director of award-winning "documentary" series The 4Chan Chronicles and the horror comedy Harlem Shake: 28 Days Later is now directing his next self-serious drama, Hoof. Hoof chronicles the events involving the creation and fandom of the hit children's TV show My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and it's spread to adult males identified as "bronies." There's a few twists, though. "It's animated. And humans are ponies." Wilmott stated. (The film is getting backup from Hasbro, and series creator Lauren Faust is an executive producer.) Other surprises include a performance of Queen's hit single "Bohemian Rhapsody" by the ponies themselves, and a more comedic outlook on the backstory behind this phenomenon. "It's an attraction for die hard fans, but hopefully we'll be able to make it accessible to mainstream audiences," Willmott continued. The films success? "I can neither confirm nor deny that."

Blankments Productions Files Joint Class-Action Lawsuit Against 906 Studios and Hasbro

In a story that could become the legal battle of the year, Blankments Productions has filed a class-action lawsuit against 906 Studios. The reasoning behind said action? "906 Studios went behind our backs into financing a film that will devalue a family franchise at home at Blankments," Al Martz, head of Blankments Productions' legal department. "Hasbro did not clear this with us, and neither did Ms. Faust. We have released one successful My Little Pony film, and have another on the way. Unless we get this solved in court civilly, we may have to boycott 906 Studios from advertising with our films and stop our good relationship with Hasbro. It's unfortunate it has to come to this, but the complete disregard for our studio in the production of Hoof, despite us owning the property it is based off of, is completely unprofessional. Don't get us wrong; we will drag this case out as long as we can until we get our respect, our money, and a guarantee that Hoof won't devalue our prevailing MLP franchise. We hope to continue our relationship with Hasbro developing toys for our films, but this may change as the suit goes on." At the time of this writing, 906 Studios and Hasbro were unavailable for comment.

In response to Blankments Productions' comment, Kevin Willmott stated that Hoof was developed in secret with Hasbro, though he said he was sorry for not informing Blankments, which owns the MLP franchise rights. He has stated production will be halted until the situations clear up. "It'd make a great sequel, though."

Hasbros has stated, "We created the characters. If anyone has the right to supervise whether characters from MLP are used, it's us." Lauren Faust, creator of the series, showed enthusiasm in Willmott's plan, and therefore is siding with 906 Studios.

O$corp Pictures Comments on MLP Rights Legal Battle

O$corp President Alexander Smits commented on the conflict between 906 Studios, Blankment Pictures, and Hasbro. He said, "It is disappointing to see a great company like Hasbro face palm Blankment Pictures who purchased the MLP rights and secretly allow 906 Studios to develop a MLP film. 906 Studios and Hasbro should have met with Blankment Pictures before considering a MLP film. We at O$corp Studios hope Hasbro and 906 Studios will do the right thing and that conflicts/situations like this will be avoided in the future. Once you purchase the rights, they should be yours." Later it was reported that Mr. Smits said he feared that if Blankment Pictures looses this battle other studios (O$corp Pictures) franchises might be endangered. O$corp Pictures currently holds rights big franchises like The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Paradise Lost, The Mars Trilogy, Ice Station Series, A Wrinkle in Time Series, Sitting Ducks, The Office, Hush, Hush Series, Frankenstein, and Leviathan Series. O$corp Pictures says they are interested in converting more book series into films and securing rights to those series. However for now, O$corp Pictures dominates with original films.

Arcturus Entertainment Press Statement

"It is with great regret and shock that we watch today as two esteemed studios, 906 and Blankments, and a major entertainment company, Hasbro, are embroiled in a major legal controversy. Arcturus Entertainment hopes that an orderly resolution to this dispute can be achieved without the need to take any further legal action. Arcturus Entertainment believes that legal action at this point and for this matter would be needlessly costly, and would reflect badly on the industry as a whole. Arcturus Entertainment would also like to call upon the Intellectual Property Office to conduct an internal review on the effectiveness of current copyright and intellectual property legislation and to issue a report detailing what measures can be taken to insure that an incident like this cannot happen again. Arcturus Entertainment is open to the possibility of more stringent regulations and rules which explicitly state the extent to which one, or a company owns and can exercise the rights to various pieces of intellectual property. Arcutrus Entertainment would also like to note that it is probably in the interest of all studios that this dispute to be resolved quickly, and a permanent solution to be established as many studios have lots riding on licensed and non-original material. Arcturus itself has major franchises that include The 39 Clues, Divergent, The Chronicles of Narnia, and plans to start new franchises such as The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, Artemis Fowl, and the Jules Verne novels in the near future. Arcturus hopes that these same problems will not occur again as it would make conducting business much easier for everyone and every studio. We will be taking a few questions at this time." - Alexander Haig, Arcturus Entertainment Spokesperson and Public Relations Manager.

Legal Battles Continue

At a conference on Monday, Hasbro executives are saying they are willing to take the battle to the courtroom, if necessary. "Blankments Productions has film rights, but we still own the characters. We can use them if we feel we have a purpose for them. The fact that this has to be a fight is ridiculous."

Blankments Productions Legal Department Replies To Statements by 906 Studios and Hasbro; Analyst Chimes In

"We do appreciate Mr. Willmott's response on how he wishes for production to be stopped. However, the film studio controls production, not the director. We wish for an actual response from the head of 906 Studios until we continue our legal venture. Hasbro's response, though, was completely out of line. We spent a good deal of money acquiring exclusive rights to the My Little Pony franchise, and both 906 Studios and Hasbro did not even bother asking us for permission, or if we could be a producing partner on the film. Considering Mr. Willmott's previous works, we believe the film will not be fitting of the family image our MLP property gives off. Blankments Productions plans on continuing our legal battle, and effective immediately, Ms. Lauren Faust is fired from our brain trust in animation (which now exclusively contains Mr. Alex Hirsch, Mr. Phil Lord, Mr. Chris Miller, and Mr. Genndy Tartakovsky.) We find this move tragic, but necessary for our company. The company also will be backing out of our merchandising deal with Hasbro, as they have clearly backed out of our licensing deal with the MLP franchise." - Al Martz

Jack Synder, chief analyst in the film industry, had this to say on the squabble: "906's mistake here was involving Hasbro. If this had been done independent of Hasbro's involvement, they could just claim it's a parody and Blankments would have no reason to complain. However, by involving the mega-company with the parody, and especially by having Ms. Faust as executive producer, they have made this, possibly unintentionally, an official product of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic franchise, which clearly violates copyright and licensing laws. Should the case make it to trial, it should clearly lean in favor of Blankments Productions, but the question is if an averagely performing film series about magic ponies with butt tattoos is really worth the legal fees necessary to defeat Hasbro's lawyers. Only Edward Nadny and Al Martz know the answer to that question, but if a peaceful deal isn't made in the next few days, I can easily see an all-out legal war starting in Hollywood."

The legal battles continue. Willmott stated this is not a movie meant for children. "While it won't be as crude as my past works, this is not an essential product of the MLP franchise. Anyone knows that. Hopefully Blankments realizes that." Mrs. Faust was more aggravated by her recent firing from Blankments Productions, and Hasbro now wants Blankments Productions to give up the rights. "There can't be My Little Pony without Mrs. Faust. The fact the studio had to fire her to solve the problem is ludicrous. We won't be partnering them anytime soon. The court case will be decided 2 months from this date.906 Studios head Richard Wright has stated that he will try to solve legal issues, and hopefully everyone will calm down. He wants Willmott to hopefully finish Hoof, however he is willing to accept any lawsuit or punishment from the courts.
